I was supposed to meet a friend but I've just found him horribly murdered! I cannot report it because... well, let's just say I shouldn't even be here so I'll get immediately arrested as the main suspect. I'll try to find a murderer on my own, I'll simply have to pretend that I'm my friend. I hope nobody here knows him...

No murder happens there :)
Another P'n'C adventure with doctor as a protagonist is Resonance but the doctor is 'she', not 'he'...
The plot kind of reminds me the first level of Angel of Darkness if you can call Lara a doctor but that's not a point and click.

A few more hints: the protagonist knows English, French and Russian. The aforementioned journey is slightly less then 3000 km long.

Now it sounds a bit like Secret Files 2 (if by 'doctor' you mean PhD, not MD) but that masterpiece part doesn't fit :)
EDIT. No, it's not this. Max's first language is German :)
