Off the top of my head, the Broken Sword series is the only one I remember set in France :( oh, and The ABC Murders.
Nope. It's not Broken Sword (or the ABC Murders).

I managed to open the egg by dropping it from a height, inside was a broken canary. I was informed that I need to open the egg in order to finish the game.
