I can't say for 100% certain it's GF, but Laura Kate has a Review Embargo on a Game she's got Review code for, that is a Remastered Game, it's so bad that she's giving big hints, without actuaslly Naming the Game, that you should wait until the reviews and not Pre-order the game,
She's Talking to Jim Sterling and Miricle of Sound on the
Podquisition Episode 8: The Numbers

First mention is at 16 minutes and says even more later nearer the end.

I know of no other Remaster/Rerelease coming out in the next week or so, it's always best to wait until it's released when people can say if anythings wrong. Just wait and see first.

Resident Evil HD Remaster is also coming out soon. Actually, on the 20th, and Grim Fandango comes out the 27th.

Ah ah, Jim used to do that all the time too. :D

Jim seems to be pretty fond of that new RE:

(or is he sarcastic?)
But let's not jump to conclusions...

you got something wth boobs i see

and a new game with bugs ?
incroyable !
Hearing any remastered game is a buggy mess is unfortunately not in the least surprising. "Remastered" often means that the game was made with minimum effort.
Both GF and RE appear to have had a decent bit of effort put into them though, at least compared to some 'remasters' that amount to "Bump up the default resolution and stick a filter on everything". New control schemes for one thing- GF finally getting the Point & Click interface it so obviously should have had in the first place, and RE having an option for camera-relative movement instead of the old tank controls. And I'm pretty sure both games have some assets completely redone (with RE at least getting some brand new ones added) rather than just upscaled.

It'd be a shame if either turned out to be a bit half-arsed.

we've discussed this.

and yes i agree with you. at this point if you pre-order a game and it's a buggy mess, then shame on you for pre-ordering it.

Not always the case.

Kingdom Hearts 1 HD Remix was actually remade from Scratch because they lost whatever source code Kingdom Hearts 1 PS2 version.
I would like to see the old Resident Evil here.

I do not like all the HD remake stuff, the old Grim Fandango would have been a sure buy, but remastered...

Sadly review embargo almost always means that the product in question has some glaring issues, be it a game, movie, music album or a book. Let's hope this isn't the case with GF though, as buggy release of it would be the last thing Double Fine needs considering the turmoils the company has been in lately.

No I think the argument that says that it prevents 'rushed reviews' or equality between reviewers regardless of their ressources is quite valid.

It is valid, but sadly many times not the real reason.
