Stupid title, almost no marketing. Good luck, but TB can't make you successful by himself.

We've already discussed that. The more I think about it, the more catchy the title gets for me :-) Besides, for instance isn't 'Grim Fandango' stupid title as well? ;-) Yet it's a bestseller, despite the title ;-)

But this ain't a goofy funsy time, it's an RTS.
I'm not sure I can take a game seriously with that title. :S

ShadowOwl: I'm really afraid that this game might be Petroglyph's ruin.

They had one successful game which was Star Wars: Empire at War (+ Expansion). Universe at War was a huge fail saleswise (and it's multiplayer was crippled by the fact that the game required Games for Windows Live and asked you to subscribe for a Live Gold membership for standard mp features). Then there are several online games for Windows which nobody have ever cared about and therefore been shut down. Finally there's the unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign for Victory.

And now there's Grey Goo. The title appears to be turning off quite a lot of people. From a PR perspective I don't think it was very well chosen. The PR department doesn't seem to do a great job anyway. If there's one type of commentary on the current reports about the game it's: "Grey goo? What's that`Never heard of it".

The only thing that MIGHT prevent a disaster is the gameplay which has to be more than than just good. And considering that none of Petroglyph's games were really great I'm not getting my hopes up. Empire at War and Universe at War were quite fun but far from amazing and suffered from bad netcoding.

Good luck Petroglyph! You guys seem to have lots of ambitions, hopfefully this will somehow work out for you.
Well, as we´ve now got Empire At War on GOG we might have a chance to see GreyGoo on here too... :D
Hm, apparently soundtrack is a bonus for this weekend only... Anyway, I wish it came here, with OST included :-)
I talked to one of the game devs at gamescom 2014 and he said that he doesn't think there's a way to convince the investors and higher-ups of a DRM-free release.

Grey Goo has nothing to do with Disney, you know. The game is not even self-published on Steam.

I wish this was true but sadly it's mostly Publisher dependent. Sega had Universe at War removed from the Steam store after GfWL shutdown announcement, even though it's still online. I'm still angry that they haven't removed GfWL instead.

At least Grey Goo seems to be doing fine on Steam so far. :)

That's sad news... Thanks for the info! :(

The bastards, send Green Arrow after them. There's no way I'll get a $50 steam game.. Probably wait for a 50% discount.
If it was $50 GOG version, I would've folded.
God, that music! I love you, Frank Klepacki. I love you.

All right, I'm all kinds of sold now.

And it's so easy to do, even a kindergarden kid could do it: more exposure leads to more sales/profits. Simple as pie.
But to some people this is rocket science lol ;)

Yes, the title choice is extremely poor. I would have not even have thought to look at such a game based on the title had word of it not got to me through other channels, as it would not occur to me that it might be a strategy game. It sounds like a children's game.

Having said that, once one gets to know what the game is about - i.e. a strategy game, the title issue loses its importance - it's just a matter that it might not attract people to look at it in the first place.

Now to the game itself. I haven't had an extensive look, but from the sound of it, the game looks promising. I will take a closer look at Grey Goo once/if it appears DRM free on GoG and once the price is more reasonable.

Yes, it is. I was expecting a game like 'World of Goo' or 'Puddle' or something and was quite disappointed that it was RTS (which I don't like) instead. So, people interested in RTS tend to overlook this game and people interested because of the title will be disappointed, since "Grey Goo" doesn't exactly lead to the assumption that it is a RTS game. Bad choice of title, no matter how justified it is 'in-universe'.
