Hi everyone,

I just wish to know by any chance if somebody knows when the game named Gremlins Inc. is supposed to be released on GOG website.

A GOG release was announced on the official publisher website for early 2016.
Any idea when exactly it means "early 2016" ?

This game looks good and I hope it will become available soon without any "Dam Rubbish Mechanism" to protect any thing. (Please excuse the bad word game here)

Thanks!

Have a nice day!

It won't be coming. Their AI requires an online connection, thus a DRM Free build is not currently possible. Let me dig up the relevant posts.

Edit: is the post I'm referring to. In the [url=http://steamcommunity.com/app/369990/discussions/0/492379159712884086/]Development Roadmap though, they do say that they may rethink a GOG version once the offline edition of the game is ready to ship, but it won't be the complete edition of the game.

AaaAAaaArgh!

(Then you may imagine how I feel desperate and disappointed)

Thanks a lot for the very quick reply, JMich. It's very appreciated.
It's both frustrating and encouraging.

"'Alone in the Office' (offline edition)

We decided to develop a separate product that would offer the gameplay of Gremlins, Inc. in the offline format. The game, tentatively called 'Gremlins, Inc: Alone in the Office', will be available for FREE to all the owners of the current game (aka 'complete edition') while being sold at $9.99 separately for those players who do not want/need the multiplayer option. More details in this announcement.

Release on GOG

We'll release the game on GOG once 'Alone in the Office' (the off-line edition of the game) is ready to ship, as 2 separate options to purchase: complete edition including the offline edition; and only the offline edition."

It's urgent to wait, and until then, maybe a lot of things may change and we could have a slithly different product than this "limited offline version" as described above.

But yes, this game is so appealing, and it would be just perfect to see it on GOG.

It's sort of annoying (especially that I'm getting annoyed at something that hasn't happened yet ;) ) but you know people are going to lose their minds when this releases here (OMG GoG has DRM !!!) despite this being a very elegant solution. Yes, I know, I can be too much of a cheerleader for GoG, sue me ;)

Assuming, of course that it plays out the way stated in the post above - a client based multiplayer version including the free offline version AND a separate offline only version.
In fact I'm kind of hoping that until then a new server management system for those who doesn't care about any ladder or something like that, that needs accounts, perma connection and central servers. Something like lobby systems, direct connection, and mainly (for me) local multiplayer, especially for one presented as a "board game". :)

but trust me, I as unhappy as anybody else if some DRM-game would come to GOG. (I'm already pissed off about the almost 1$=1€ actual economy...)

I hate accounts - it's one of the things (I've mentioned this before) that turned me off from console gaming - needing a new account for every single freaking game. It's why I *sort of kind of* like the idea of Galaxy (though I don't use it yet) - a single account to handle multiplayer (ESPECIALLY for more modern games, because I think of them as needing more extensitve architecture to keep up and running).

That said, yes I hope developers continue to include IP / LAN options and HATE what Gremlins initially did (Come on, offloaded AI? If you want to do that, make a flash game and host it online).

I *WISH* modern games would use lobby systems and don't see why something "smaller" couldn't but for the big games (and here's me hoping GoG continues to get some of the new stuff day one) I just don't think maintaining that kind of backend is appealing anymore. Far too expensive and / or far too big of a revenue stream to just have it like the games of yore used to :( Which is why (for me, I understand why everyone has different "metrics" for what is and isn't tolerable) I like that GoG is attempting it as a "value add" on their service.

The second it become more than that, however, is when I'm out LOL. Because DRM free IS why I'm here. Multiplayer hosting, good! DRM / Galaxy beyond that - NO WAY! Which is why I sort of like the options posed for this game.

Interesting. I'm not 100% how to feel about it, and may need to see what end product turns out like.

It's nice to see them attempt to create an offline version, but it's also a little weird given the initial push back on the idea from the developer, and how much the reasons for offline were marginalized.

I'm curious as to what changed that suddenly makes an offline version worth all the time and effort they explicitly said wasn't worth it before. Despite being criticized for online requirement the game still ranks “very positive” on Steam, so I don't think it's hurting them. It was just one guy doing all the talking, so maybe the other guys feel a little differently about things.

I guess we will see what this turns into. Hopefully it will offer a full offline experience, and be worth having on GoG.

As far as I remember from that same steam thread (or maybe I read it elsewere), he also said that he liked GOG very much, and had friends/acquaintances in GOG's staff. The small dev team was a deterrent to make an offline version that could be accepted by GOG. But maybe the game is selling enough so they can afford it now.
Eh I'm glad they are at least attempting to provide a semi appropriate version... I would have much preferred they modified the original game and taken out the online requirement for single player. This just seems rather unnecessary. I'm not sure why they are selling both version's either, the offline version should be included by default with the other version for free [without needing the separate offline version, ie keep them as one package]. I realize they may be some people that will only play offline but I think it's going to only cause confusion for potential buyers when they thought they were getting the complete game.

Yea I meant without the separate offline paid version. Just have one version that provides both. My fault should have been more clear.
