Human sacrifices are supposed to appease the gods. You offer me up you'll probably only offend them. :P

mike_cesara: Nah, nothing to worry about. Since Linko90 survived his very first day with us, perhaps he will find the time to get to the bottom of this mess.
Otherwise we're doomed ; )

kohlrak: I'm worried about his access level, in regards to solving this. Does he have access to put a hook on the downvotes so he can see who does it? Does he have the tools to see where the downvoting takes place (assuming it happens on an old post).

I'll say this openly right now. Since it was wild, wild west, here, i started downvoting every post i saw by the user i was pretty sure was downvoting all of my posts. Since the new mod is here, and presumably is looking into the issue, i have no reason to be shooting at someone(s) who was (were) shooting at me from a dark place while i was out in the open. I'll let the moderator handle it from here. The bullseye's now painted on him instead of me, for the time being. Instead, if he wants help, i'll help in any way I can, but my lack of context renders my programming talent useless in helping him shy of giving him vague advice that, unless he is a coder and has access to the code of the site, would make absolutely no sense to him. That, too, is a shame.

I have plenty of other concerns for him, but given the escalation, i think it'd be wiser to hold off on what they are until this forum poising is done, since, frankly, it seems that people who want to use the new mod are trying to snuggle up to the new mod. I would invite him to ignore all emotion present in private chats, as it is inherently biased in the face of someone else who's not using the chat to show their emotion (in other words, investigate posts of "bullying" without taking into consideration the things said in the chat other than what the post and charge is, not how the person feels about it in the moment). I do, however, expect that this moderator has enough experience to already know that, though.
Lets be honest, the forum software is near to impossible to be fixed anyway, we need a completely new one..
As for the downvoting case, rarely using the minus button myself, post has be seriously dodgy or pure spam, when I'm using the report button, luckily that's a very rare case here. At this point I'm voting for The Paygate if we want to keep some sort of rep, otherwise get rid of it/rewrite.
I don't think you should worry about pm's. Let Linko90 make his own mind about the situation : )
And he's open to everyone here I believe, not only the chosen ones ; )

viperfdl: How about a pineapple?
:D
Fine with me. But you better discuss that with P1na. ;)
Hi Linko, good luck:)

Linko90: I look forward to talking to you all! If you have any questions, or as mentioned before, suggestions, feel free to hit me up!
Welcome to the forum, as our new blue!

As many have expressed their many wishes, my coin toss on the rep situation would be the adding in of a "block/ignore" function for users. Most normal discussion boards have this feature, where if you add someone to your block/enemy list, their posts are automatically hidden from your view when you browse through a forum. I've read that some people here do use the downvote button as a way of hiding posts they don't want to see. So, this might be a better way of handling things.
If there is going to be an "Ignore/Block, which I'm totally fine with, I only ask for one caveat: the person being blocked/ignored be told.

I don't want to spend and hour in here waiting for a reply from someone who never saw my post in the first place. :D

kohlrak: I could probably do it, myself, but i'd rather say my arguments and have a logical discussion, rather than sit and wage war. This is why, unlike someone else who has come after me and others before, I didn't try to get private access to this new moderator. I don't want to silence my opponents from keeping me on the straight and narrow line, should i wander from it.

Just stating the truth and should I join Tommy for speaking up? I'm sure if some in here had the power then in the clink I would go.

That'd be your own dumb fault. Meanwhile, telling only adds fuel to the flames, and may even prompt them to make an alt just to harass you for blocking them. People are actually trying to sue Trump for blocking them on twitter, no joke.

It's not impossible, but it might be impractical. The question is how spaghetti is it? Is it 1 PHP file written by 1 dude that just needs spread out? Or are we looking at 100 files each with 5 lines of code in it? Or are we looking at heavy wizardry and black art, covered with black magic and cargo cult? Or is the whole thing black art? It would help to know.

I worry about such things, because i've seen such things happen before.

A block on twitter is different from an ignore (or mute, as it's called there). Since Trump is a USA government official and uses his personal Twitter account in an official capacity (rather than just for personal stuff, as many others do), that account is a public forum and as such anyone should be allowed to speak there (and thus being heard by others) and listen/read what the president says, blocking prohibits both these.

That does not mean he is required to listen, however, and as such he should instead use the ignore function so that he doesn't have to read said persons' messages.

The above is my interpretation of a video by Leonard French, who regularly read and talk about through various court cases - mainly regarding copyright as he's a copyright attorney.

And as of right now, due to a recent court ruling, the public is allowed to speak there.

The POTUS is currently fighting this ruling so who knows how it's going to turn out in the end.

End of my serious posting for the day. :P

Think I'll go hang out in one of the World Cup threads.

Let's just say, I agree with Sargon of Akkad (or was it Count Dankula?) on the matter: it's his announcement platform, not his discussion platform, which is totally different. If it were to be defined as a public forum, all the account deleting that twitter did would become illegal, as well, and everyone who lost their accounts, for whatever reason (except spam, child porn, or something to that effect), would also be able to sue twitter, since they can no longer be in the public forum. As a result, i hope the case wins, as that would also transfer over to facebook and other platforms hosted in the USA and/or any websites that use US owned domains (which would include GOG). Also, all other politicians would not be allowed to block others, as well.

That said, that's pretty dangerous. That would be way, way more game changing than this "link tax" thing i keep hearing about.

Tauto, you weren't the only one affected! In fact, many of use were, myself including. Sadly some took advantage of this and started doing the same. You chose some strange way to express your feelings and for some reason following this path to this day. Well, in a some way your account is the perfect example how things went out of hands here..
