Dear GOG sales team, I have to voice some criticism about ongoing "Flash deals". Because it is so short (6 hours?), it can be very easy for people to miss out on some great deals depending on their time zone, which is VERY unfair. Me for example, just missed out on Thief: Gold sale because it was happening during the night time in Asia. Any way for get it now? Making the games available for 12 / 24 hours would more fair, wouldn't you agree?

This is pretty much what they did with the Insomnia sales, though. There was X number of copies, and after all of 'em got bought out, it'd move to the next deal. This is nothing new.
There's a psychological logic behind this, the point is to instill a sense of urgency. You're supposed to look at the ticking timer, go "Wow! I'd better buy this now, I might never see this deal again!" and nab it. Of course, there might be similar and/or better deals in the future (maybe even a few minutes or a few days into the future), but you bought it and they got their money.

Personally, I have no problem with it and think it's nice to have a little variety every now and then. I'm more concerned with whether the deals are any good or not.

Apparently there are a few difficulty settings, but I imagine it's still a tough game.

tfishell: Also, Pajama Sam is on sale! As always I recommend Vol. 1, but Pajama Sam 3 from Vol. 2 is quite good too.
Do you know if they require good English comprehension to understand the game's tasks? Also, do they always have english subtitles as seen in the screenshots. Asking for my niece (she's 10) who's currently learning English. :)

PS. Yes, I could google or youtube that, but decided to ask here! :p
AI War detected and added today, but Tempest is still not working here.

Pawel1995: [...] Steam stopped with the flash sales: Many people say that sales are "not the same again".

GOG tries out flash sales and people like you say they don't like it.

I have a similar opinion though :D I don't get what's great about flash sales, except forcing you to check the sale every hour, if you want a specific game.
Well... "Know your audience", I suppose. Some people (seemingly mainly on Steam) are interested in an... " exciting shopping experience". Me? Not so much.

I would like to say that this does no harm to me personally but it's drawing away resources that could have been used fixing bugs or improving actual site features. Instead it has caused some new bugs that needed fixing...

Instead of digging out flash sales (and apparently completely revamping the interface for them) we could have had...
- Indicators on store pages for games that use DOSBox or ScummVM.
- Or even being able to mark games as <i>already owned</i>.
- This sounds swell as well: A setting to disable all <i>"social"</i> features (like facebook).
I think I got my point across.

These games aimed at kids, are very visual and not complex, so I don't think she'd necessarily find them too difficult even without knowing English fully. I think you can turn the subtitles on and off but I'll have to test and see.

You can get an idea for the gameplay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0c0gqPBx8BE

I should chime in with this also: I forgot that the GOG versions are still lacking some of the non-English versions that are on Steam. "Missing German, Dutch and French versions of Pajama Sam 1&amp;2, all of which are on Steam."

Thank you! From the looks of it she won't be able to follow, unfortunately - even if they do have option for subtitles. :( Time to keep pestering Brazilian/Portuguese developers for more kids games. :) (The non-English versions wouldn't help either).

Just FYI, there is an option for subtitles and dialogue+subtitles. Hit F5 in-game to bring up the ScummVM menu, go to "Options" and you should see buttons for "Text and Speech".

In any case, cheers! (If you were to end up getting the games, she'd want to use "L" and "S" to save and load games.)

Goddamn I hate flash sales, why can't you just put all the games you intend to put on sale up and that's it? It's just a cheap way to get more clicks on the site.

Flash Sales are just "flashes" of a bigger discount on the already discounted game during the sale. All the intended games are still on sale after and before the flash sale are they not? I dont have a problem with this, I think it's better this way. Once steam stopped doing flash sales the discounts started decreasing on average.

They are not. Take Thief Gold as an example. It was on the flash sale (I think for 85% off) and now it's back to full price.
But I also don't have a problem with that kind of sale. Sure, I might miss some good deals, but it's still much more interesting than putting everything up at once and then let it stay there for a whole week without any changes.

Oh my mistake, that is rather dumb then ):
