I have been wondering for years why gog haven't released games like siege of avalon, nightstone, pool: myth drannor, and gorasul. My heart breaks!!!! I want to play those games!!! And there's no reason at all why those games shouldn't be available at gog!!!

Rights, licences, legal limbo / legal hell, and of course - even given GOG have the rights etc, will it sell?

Rights holder(s) are normally the main reason, but as many have stated there can be a lot of legal knots in the way as well.

Would love to see the Lemmings series here however Sony hold the rights to it. Horizon Zero Dawn though (as well as the announcement that other of there more recent games are coming to PC) shows that there is hope they could start looking at the back catalog of games they have and start releasing them on PC again

A ton of Star Trek games and all the Discworld titles come to mind.

NOLF 1+2 are the oft mentioned examples around here.

Of the stuff I know for sure they rejected:

Detention
Devotion
One Finger Death Punch 1
Lost in Vivo
Underworld Ascendant (Not great by any means, TBH, but decent enough and sure as hell better than a lot of the outright garbage that got accepted - Looking at you, Hello Neighbor!)
Hatred

Of those, Lost in Vivo is probably stands the best chance to get accepted eventually, since it has no controversy attached to it that would make the chickenshit staff queasy (that is unless the dev eventually posts something uncouth on Twitter).

Stopped playing it as the version I got was bugged and could not proceed, if I remember correctly.
I would not mind having it working, somehow.

It boggles my mind why people would want to see these games here. While they're still being held in a legal mess, and the corpos involved unwilling to untangle it, they remain readily available, free of charge, updated to work on modern systems, DRM and virus-free on their own dedicated website.

None of the original devs would see so much as a penny from an official rerelease and people being eager to pay for something they can have for free just so they can line the pockets of multi-billion dollar corporations goes to show just how inundated with industry propaganda people have become.

Maybe because people are not aware of this "revival project"? I for once never heard of it until reading your post. And doesn't seem like that's just me living under the rock, after quick glance on reddit there is barely any discussion of it.

I'd be interested in Amberstar and Ambermoon (yes, I know, the latter was only released for Amiga, still would like Gog to make the effort).

For an example I would suggest reading about the IP rights issues with the 1960's Batman TV series, It was produced by Fox, aired on ABC originally and Warner Bros' purchased DC Comics in the 1970's, plus some individuals also manage to hold rights to the TV series which prevented it from being released for home video,DVD, and Blu-ray until about 2014.

Yeah, it was a buggy mess. But the guys at gog SHOULD be able to get it to work?
