Lord_Kane: From what I have heard Microsoft lost the rights a while ago, thats why the free release of MW4 Mercs got pulled is due to MS losing it to initially Smith and Tinker, I believe its now in the hands of either "Infinite game publishing" or Piranha themselves, but yeah you were right at some point.
Smith and Tinker only got certain rights for MW4, I think?

#1: I spent 4 hours researching the whole MW rights situation, its a fucking mess, let me tell you, I dont know where it lies at the moment but 90 percent certain it aint with MS at the moment, but maybe the MW4 part is? like I said, a mess.

#2: What the hell happened, you can PM me about it or hit up W3D's TS if you want to bring me up to speed, Zee Hypno comes there on occasion.

Nothing much, we simply migrated the forums (which are live and functioning right now) to IP Service version 4, but that broke the functionality of linking news to the Wordpress-powered main site, so Sonic is working on restoring that and giving the site a general visual refresh to match the new style of the forums. Stop by sometime.

I should but after my falling out with OWA at W3D I am very wary of the C&C community. (well not so much falling out, just my continued disappointment with W3D in general. )

I wonder if there is a difference in the game rights between the MechWarrior and the MechCommander licence. Both are based on FASA's Battletech Universe,but the MechWarrior games are pretty much a First Person Shooter, whereas the MechCommander cames are Tactical where you command a number of Mechs in a Top down perspective.FASA could well have sold the rights for the different game systems to two different companies.

CnC1, RA1, Tiberian Sun/Firestorm, Earthsiege - are freeware. They were distributed by the publisher free of charge without any registration or EULA signing to general public. Tops you'll need screenshot from webarchive to demonstrate that possessing them is within your right.

However RA2 is special, it was distributed free on Origin - means its still bound to account, and the offer was time-limited.
