NM - I found a different walkthrough and it said I had to talk to Lester to advance to 2. Yeah, I entered the sect camp the second time (after joining the Old Camp) without going through the main gate and didn't speak to Lester. Sorry about this. Maybe a blue could delete it for me?

I appreciate all of the help in getting me able to run this game. Now I have in game issues.

1) Is there any way to tell/confirm which chapter you're on?

2) When you change chapters, do you get the same "notice" you got when chapter one started? (It was a window on screen with the words "Chapter 1" on it.

I thought when you chose a camp, that was the "signal" that chapter 1 was finished and chapter 2 starts. I have chosen my camp, gotten the new armor (much better thank you).

But that "notice" screen and sound announcement announcing chapter 2 never came up. Also, it appears to me that nothing reset. I thought vendors would restock their ore, have better weapons to sell, etc. All the vendors have 0 ore (yeah I took it all from all three camps lol, doesn't everybody?), the goods they're offering are still the same crap that was offered from beginning of game. Now new swords, bows, etc. I've been to vendors in all three camps, all the same. That, combined with the fact no "announcement" screen and sound occurred, leads me to the conclusion that I'm still in Chapter 1. So am I mistaken that becoming a member of a camp is what ends Chapter 1?

I've run all over the place, killing lots of beasts, but I've run out of places to go and things to do to advance it to chapter 2, if that's the problem. I mean something ain't right. Either I never got to chapter 2, or i got to chapter 2 and there was no reset. Would be nice if there were some way to tell in game which chapter it says you're on.

Man, if I have to start over.... after all of the hours I already have in and all the hours and frustration just getting it to run... I dunno. I am LOVING the game again, I'm now comfortable with the controls again. But I don't know if I have it in me to start over again. I checked a walk-through and it said what I remembered, that joining a camp ends chapter 1. It either didn't end in my game, or it ended but vendors, creatures, etc. never reset. All the places I cleared are still clear.

Off we go ⌣ thought it was NewMap or smth

Man, you did a good thing grinding the first chapter as you are having most xp and possible stuff... No! No deleting of saves... The second chapter starts when you want it...
Yes, there is a notice for Chapter Two...
There is a "thing" that is triggering chapter two.
Same with chapter one, if you will avoid (by swimming back and saving) talking with Diego, Chapter One will never start...
Let's find out... Having it saved before each part...
Btw started Gothic on a tablet with win10, now configuring the joypad (preferably bt) to play... In a real forest... Photo to come...

find Gothic.ini and set scaleVideos=0
for non-standard screens (TVs, tablets...)

Turn off all notifications of all programs, and turn off the Internet itself within the device you play, Gothic is stable but it's easily kicked to the window and not coming back full screen.

Should the game crash for any reason, find gothic.rpt and delete, open gothic.ini and set gamecrash=0 abnormalstarts=0
Playing and enjoying older version of the offline installer(keep the versions that work best with your device), going through the first chapter to identify the chapter 1 to chapter 2 mechanism precisely, this idea made the game enjoyable once again, it doesn't matter to know, it is matter to play. AND always keep Nek necklace, you knew right? With this on you are protected against death! no, not just from one fatal hit and your HP goes 1 and waking up from the floor, yes, even after a crossbow shot :o

To start Chapter 2 your PC_Hero needs the 5th level.
I will not talk to Lester at all to keep your first track.
and not sign to any camp.... and save
