Lately I sustained some serious brain damage due to excessevely playing drm-free games at night. As a consequence I lost my good taste in music. Please recommend me some music. The genre doesn´t matter as long as the music expands my consciousness.
See it as chance to show me the music you love but can´t tell anybody because they wouldn´t understand :)

P.S. With youtube link, please. I´m not the fittest anymore.
too vague XD

This is why I listen to a radio over MP3 or CDs. My taste in genre changes every five minutes. With the radio I can go from Pink Floyd, to Slayer, to Dylan, to Faith No More, to Beatles, to Psychedelic Furs and back again, over and over.

That´s intentional. I don´t want to set any restrictions. I would like to learn about unknown kinds of music.

What do you do, when a song is six minutes long? :)

Depends on the song. :P YES I sit through it, Meat Loaf I tend to nod off somewhere around the third bridge.

Here's some that might be interesting.

First, I'll start with something that matches what we normally think of as music: Bach's little fugue in G minor:

Now, for some aleatoric stuff, a piece called "And God Created Great Whales": I'll provide two different links:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pTu4pkmtpU
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcyMpHrXQLg

(Note that different recordings of that piece might sound different, due to the random nature of the music; the score actually instructs the musicians to play "not together" at parts; I know because the community orchestra I'm in recently performed that piece.)

Now, for something that strains the definition of "music": A piece by John Cage called 4'33". I note that, while the composer called this a piece of music, reasonable people would disagree, and there has been significant controversy over it:

Finally, a joke piece by John Stump called "Faerie's Air and Death Waltz". Instead of linking to Youtube, I am going to link to a page that has the score for that piece and a few other similar pieces by the same composer; the reason for this should be obvious (warning: may cause uncontrollable laughter):

That´s a thread after my fancy: educational and artful. Never heard of Goa Trance before. I´m curious about the other links. I´ll listen into all of them.

Well, then here's a tune that'll give you more than enough time to come back around to Pink Floyd again.
LOLz "this rhymes may turn you into ashes". Almost happened, pal. Almost happened.

Actually, I played that myself on a keyboard. But nobody believes me, that I could handle a classic.

What a shame, that he got ripped apart by Shao Khan.

Goa Trance you say, since you are so open minded you should also try Dubstep immediately ;)

And let's not completely turn down the "good old classical music"
