As far as I understand, drachehexe wanted to install Galaxy for the convenience of installing the game, all of its DLC and all patches with one single click. What drachehexe didn't want was a client that starts automatically when you try to launch the game with the desktop shortcut created during installation <- That's exactly how Galaxy works for all my GOG games. Witcher 3 seems to be a sad exception. But I think that's a decision they made because it's a brand new AAA game which attracts people who wouldn't get why they have to launch the client seperately (and thus would miss patches, the free DLC and all the achievement stuff, because they would never launch Galaxy).
I have to say that I like Galaxy so far. With DRM clients being the norm nowadays, I had four gaming related desktop icons: Steam, Origin, Uplay and a folder called "games" where I kept all the shortcuts to my GOG games. Galaxy replaced this folder now. It starts up pretty fast, doesn't care for my internet or GOG's servers, does updates for my games automatically (which is awesome, because with GOG's broken update notifications you can easily miss patches!!!) and doesn't annoy me with stuff I don't want. It's a bit "useless" compared to other clients, but that's exactly what I like about Galaxy ;P An uncomplicated auto-updater with shortcuts to your installed games and an overview of all the games you haven't installed (and tags to see your backlog, favorites, whatever).
