This site and platform should focus on actual good old games, most of the old games brought to us here with little GOG magic applied on them to work with Win10 flawlessly is why most people come here..
Do you guys agree? Would you like to see more old games released on GOG?

No, I don't agree.

I'm not against old games being here, but they shouldn't be "the focus."

GOG doesn't stand for Good Old Games and hasn't had that name for many years.

For the most part, GOG has already acquired all the old-old (as opposed to newly-old) games that they are able to. If they did nothing else than focus on old-old games then they'd have nothing new to sell, and so they'd probably go bankrupt.

GOG should focus on getting as many new games here as they possibly can, and just newly-old games, but more so legimitately new games.

All good games become old at some point. GOG is one of the few surviving DD services from 10+ years ago. I'm happy for them to expand their focus if it keeps them viable, so long as they don't give up their DRM-free selling point.

You wouldn't know it from the front page, but they're still regularly adding old games to the catalog. I insta-bought a DOS Polish Warcraft I clone, Polanie like a week ago. At the same point, I was also delighted to see "The Evil Within" and Dishonored series show up recently.

We need the Dungeon Master collection here ASAP. Along with Bloodwych, Buck Rogers Countdown to Doomsday and Goregon's Alliance.

No i don't agree, GOG is regularly bringing old games and while maybe not quite as frequently as some people want it's good enough because they can't do it constantly when optimizing them for newer systems and working around with licenses take up time.

I do really like a lot of older games and buy a significant amount of them but more importantly i'm here for DRM free games whether they are new or old and i want GOG to improve in this regard too.
It has been too much up and down lately with support not seemingly caring and taking very long time to fixe issues on offline installers and instead advice using Galaxy from what i have been able to scour from these boards but i'm patient. I have nothing against Galaxy and knows that without it getting patch support from some less than stellars devs would be even harder than it already is but personally prefer installers when the glitchy site don't make that impossible that is.

Nothing is ever perfect or will be but this too few old games argument that crops up from time to time seem weird to me and even out of touch with reality.

I'm fairly certain that GOG has brought over all the old classics that are easily and (not so easily) acquired that they can.

Which leaves a few categories

1) The Technologically challenging: Where the problem isn't legal or a search, but more getting the tang dhing to work on the systems of today. Enough people find it a headache to get I76 running, and I doubt the support team wants another nightmare like that.

2) Legally tangled: Who holds the rights? Some holding company in Scranton. Do they know they hold the rights? Nope. But even then, the musician refuses to sign, and the sound libraries were purchased by a stingy company in Germany. Even if we could get the players to sit down and negotiate with GOG, would they agree with each other, especially for GOG's preferred indefinite time?

3) It doesn't exist for PC: Given that Apple keeps trying to stomp out the idea of gaming on their platform and GOG's Linux support is...lacking, at best, that leaves just PC games. But as it turns out, there were a ton of great games for other computers. Amiga, the Speccy, and other such things.

No. GOG should focus on DRM-free games that will likely make them a profit. They can't afford to only do "Good Old Games" anymore.

And Yes, I would like to see more old games released on GOG. especially "AAA" titles and, in general, whatever's high on the wishlist. (I'm not happy with some of GOG's rejections but it is what it is and I'll occasionally ask for un-rejections)

that said I upvoted you in case you get a flurry of downvotes, but hopefully that doesn't happen

There's only so many old games out there dude, and a good number of them are hard/impossible to get for licensing reasons. Hence GOG had to either start selling new stuff or just not sell much they don't already have. Seems like an easy decision for a store, eh?

Good 'ol' Games is why GoG started in the first place to bring games to the masses that otherwise could only be aquired by shady means so yes I agree.

Still GoG got a lot of old games a lot of people deemed impossible to get here, like most of LucasArts catalog and more recently Blizzard and Bethesda so it's not they forgotten about it.
The games that will be really hard to get are old sports and racing games. So if you like these I suggest you try the used market, on the plus side they're usually very cheap.

What I do find worrying is that certain particular old games seem to have become completely forgotten about and becoming more obscure by the year. These are becoming less likely candidates just because of a business standpoint.
But then again we recently got Epic + Inferno which have become pretty obscure over the years, so maybe my fears are injustified.

The last thing I want to say is that if you want a particular old game, vote for it.

There's probably some justifiable worry in that we know GOG has rejected some old games, iirc at least from Piko Interactive. I have to assume it was based on GOG believing the games wouldn't sell well here, I'm not sure why else they'd reject them.

GOG has never stopped releasing classic games. I'm sure the staff would love to sell even more, but there are legal considerstions to solve first. I'm confident they will surprise again.

But selling new games doesn't affect the classic games that are already being sold, attracts new customers and is another source of income. There's no need to choose between one or the other.

I would. The only problem is that most "actual good old games" are already here. And those that aren't weren't brought here because of problems with copyright or technical issues. Reality is a bitch.

No I do not agree. I originally joined GOG back in 2011 to get a DRM-free The Witcher and The Witcher 2 (the latter game was still a new game at that point, IIRC).

The classic games are a nice bonus, but I am here primarily for semi-new AAA releases. For instance, the recent Dishonored 1-2, The Evil Within 1-2 and Disaster Report 4 are exactly the kind of releases I want to GOG. More of that, please.

Not that I wasn't delighted also when e.g. Rage of Mages 1-2 or Nam were released here. But if I had to choose between the two (which I don't), I think I'd prefer to get the few years old AAA releases here.

The third and probably the biggest part are the indie games, I guess most GOG releases at this point are indie releases, just because they are so easy to get to a store and there are so many of them produced all the time, left and right. I can't say I am here specifically for indie releases, but sure I buy them too, if I read in the reviews that some of them are great. I am not a big fan of pixel-art 2D platformers though, or "roguelikes" whatever that means. (I take roguelike or rogue-lite to mean: "Well we couldn't be arsed to create a meaningful single-player story or campaign to the game, so instead we made some kind of freeform sandbox game where you will die all the time, permanently").
