Hello mates,
I've always loved GOG, I've bought many many (good old) games, but in these last months I've noticed there are really few old games and too many (much) new games.
There are tons of games I wish I could re-play on my PC. Some are
-Moonstone
-Heimdall
-The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall
-Desert Strike
-One Must Fall 2097
-Network Q-Rac Rally Challenge

the question is: is there any chance to see good old games again, or is GoG becoming a STEAM like platform?
thx a lot

Isn't Daggerfall free now?
Anyway if you buy some other Bethesda games like Morrowind you get daggerfall for frer in your library. Check the Bethesda game pages for details.
Wow. We finally got another one of the "there aren't any old games here anymore" threads. I was beginning to miss them, we used to get at least one every month, the scheduling for the things has been off.

If you want to see these games brought to GOG, your best bet is to create entries on the Community Wishlist (or vote for them if they're already there) and email the publishers asking for their games to be brought here. As far as your concern about there not being enough old games, I'm sure JMich or somebody will be along shortly to give you the exact stats on why that isn't true.

This is actually a comment/observation that comes up a lot. JMich (one of the community members) actually keeps track f GOG releases and his stats show there are actually as many or more 'old' games released on GOG as there were in past years. But there are also a ton of newer titles as well. So it may appear there aren't as many older games being released but that's simply not the case.

As for GOG becoming a Steam-like platform, that's up to you to decide. With many of the 'features' GOG has introduced, they're looking more and more like Steam from at least a functional end-user standpoint.

And for the games you mentioned, you can vote on the wishlist (add an entry if they're not already there). But no one can tell you if they'll be here, as it all hinges on GOG being able to track down rights/IP holders and making a deal with them.

Of course good old games are still being released on GOG. Of course there is only a finite number old games that can be added, since a lot of them are already here, and others have problems related to the right owners or compatibility issues. But just one month ago Curse of Monkey Island was added to the store, so they are still coming.

It's like finding a long lost love, thought forever gone with time. :D

You also get for free Arena and Daggerfall on GOG if you purchase a Bethesda Softworks game.

Why? I want a clear answer, why?

What are you going to do in the game anyway, besides falling through the stairs outside the gameplay area, and constantly getting lost into dungeon mazes? Will you be climbing the walls inside an inn for hours upon hours in order to get better in climbing, or jump+run everywhere because that improves your related skills, albeit very slowly?
One Must Fall 2097 has been freeware since 1999.
Dude I agree with you, I would love to see old games here, but this question? Come on.

Do you always ask these kind of exclusive disjunction questions, or do you store yellow snow in your freezer to eat it during summer?

Yes, GOG is becoming steam. It still lacks an "optional" CEG component, and a mod workshop, but expect to see these any day now.
In an interesting twist, I'm playing an old game on Steam right now. :P

Hey, just a heads-up, GOG isn't officially "Good Old Games" anymore. They do release old games often still (generally 1 a week; last week we got https://www.gog.com/news/release_the_dame_was_loaded), but "old games on new machines" isn't their only focus anymore. It seems obvious to me GOG is creeping towards trying to challenge Steam's dominance, whatever the forum may think of that.

As for the games you mentioned, Daggerfall is added to your account whenever you buy any Bethesda game here (afaik). However, there are apparently better fanmade versions available online, since the game is now freeware; check out the Daggerfall forum.

Likewise, OMF2097 is now freeware, and you can probably get it easily working on DOSBox if you want. Some of the other games may be DOS titles too, so if you don't mind getting them off "abandonware" sites, grab 'em and learn to use DOSBox, it's not really that hard imo.

This game is already available on GOG. You get it for free when you buy any Bethesda-owned title (be it Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, DOOM, Quake, Wolfenstein, etc.)
