Because their conversion is fucked up - the price they're charging Australians is equivalent to $39.99 AUD (or close enough) - when due to the weaker AUSTRALIAN dollar it should be higher to make it the equivalent to the USD price

I can only assume this is an error as AUSTRALIA NEVER COPS A BREAK WHEN IT COMES TO REGIONAL PRICING

For example

COD 4 US Store $19.99USD
COD 4 AU Store $49.99USD ($71.28AUD on today's exchange rate)

XCOM Enemy Unknown Complete Pack US Store $49.99USD
XCOM Enemy Unknown Complete Pack AU Store $79.99USD ($114.06 AUD)

So I wonder how long it will take to "fix" this "bug"

as for the UK price - it's the equivalent to 35 GBP - so not quite the 1=1 conversion, though not far off...

Australia has always paid less on average than the US, ever since the introduction of regional pricing more than a year ago. On average, Australians pay 18% in USD on 102 games (see Table VIII).

The misconception probably arises because for Witcher 3 they pay more, but that is an exception.

Which is why I think that it's a mix-up in their pricing script - as Australia (unlike Russia for example) are/were never beneficiaries of regional pricing on ANY other webstore that I know of - we either pay the US price in USD (which is bad at the moment to a weakening AUD) or we get a regionally higher price AND pay in USD (see the Steam examples above)

GOG pricing script at the moment has it set so we're paying $39.99 AUD instead of USD - thus making me think that its an error of incompetence on their part

It'd have to be a very long-running error that they refuse to notice then.
More likely, they're trying to establish themselves and dominate the market, at least on the games in their catalog.

From MaGog's logs for 12 September:

I split a region being monitored by MaGog for regional pricing into two: "Central and South America (BR)" into "Latin America (MX)" and "Brazil (BR)". Anyone who used to be in regBR is now in regMX, except Brazilians who remained in regBR.

The reason for this is that Dropsy and its DLC are regionally priced in Brazil, but not in the rest of Central and South America.
