Securom will not be supported by Windows 10. Securom can easily removed since You as developer don't want to tie your code to a single protection method, there is DRM free code for those games somewhere, Securom operates on a different layer than the game code.

So all the games using Securom at Gamergate must be either modified or they will need to lose all Windows 10 sales, not to say about all the costumer support that implies older costumers.

well, it has just been Halloween! O__________o

- and yes, not a bad point I suppose - though I'm not massively well read on it
Surely that is bad news for those games that don't get a fix?

Yup. Like all games that haven't been released on digital distribution sites.

Exactly, I would think a lot of publishers are not going to fix a lot of their games as they have dropped support. In fact, worst case scenario - it might cause them to pull some older games from sale because they don't want to receive support requests from lots of W10 users. Not likely to happen, but I certainly don't see a lot of good coming from W10 dropping securom support.

I think most of my discs have securom on them haha.
This will be a great exercise in consumer protection compliance for the key resellers. I'm particularly interested how G2A will update their stolen keys now. BTW, its gamersgate. With an ''s''.

Well, it's not only SecuROM that's being affected but also Safedisc. Needless to say, some games like No One Lives Forever (both 1 and 2) are not playable at all in 10 thanks to Microsoft's measure unless you resort to cracking.

I can see why this is a good thing to a point but i might aswell chuck out most of my games if this truly comes to light. Such a waste.

It is ironic that there are PC Microsoft games that are affected, but don't have a digital version yet (Freelancer, Halo, Impossible Creatures and more).

EPIC DRM FAIL. Forcing people to avoid games in the future because they had no choice but to upgrade to Windows 10.
Not only "good news". Having older games on CD might be a problem. But i'm pretty sure that a fix will be in order.

There is always a choice. Only a Sith deals in absolutes.
