I was just wondering if there were any good bullet hell games on here or not here yet. I am a huge Touhou fan and Ikaruga fan, and wanted to find others that were like those. If you do know any, could you suggest them to me? Thank you in advance, and have a good one!
There's a few proper bullet hell games; I'll assume Tyrian doesn't count.

Raiden Legacy
Raiden 3
Raiden 4
Raptor Call of the Shadows
Revolver 360 Reactor

I'll be sure to check these out, they all look really awesome! Thank you so much
There's Crimzon Clover: World Iginition, which seems to be a decent game though it suffers from the problem of excessive visual noise.

Another one i'd have mentioned if i could remember it. That's an issue without having it as it's own genre, unless i missed it... Remembering the names to these games i don't play often is quite annoying.

edit: arcade shooter...

edit2: Actually that brings up a pretty decent list of what's there...

2 bullet hell that I like and are not here yet are Mushihimesama (Cave!) and Hitogata Happa (interesting mechanic)

Crimzon Clover is also a great choice and is available on gog
Two great games in recent memory, both DRM free through Humble Store or Humble Widget.

Mecha Ritz: Steel Rondo
https://www.humblebundle.com/store/mecha-ritz-steel-rondo

Blue Revolver
http://bluerevolvergame.com/

Some top quality free games that I posted earlier in another thread, including a previous version of Mecha Ritz. As good as or better than any pro game, no crappy doujins here. Copy-pasting below. If this is interesting to you, there is tons more.

I'll just drop videos to two little known and amazing indie shmups. They are both free, so look for the links.

MECHA Ritz (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdY-zdM34IA) [amazing soundtrack, and overall style]
Aero Chimera (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wW0uhJcxEhA) [tough as fck]

Another pair of very solid games which were originally paid for, now released for free.

Leiria Stargazer (https://n-linear.org/stargazer/download.html)
Has ESPGaluda mechanics and an awesome original sound track. Of course, excellent gameplay.

Zen-ichi (http://mna.net/equinox/Zen-Ichi/10th/)
Ignore the aged graphics for a moment and play a stage or two, and see for yourself how well this one is made. Download link at the very bottom. To fix the Win7+ display color problem, either set the compatibility options like in the screenshot, or do the usual kill explorer.exe trick.
Either of the Mecha Ritz games is probably the best thing that happened to the genre in recent years.

What good is a shmup if it doesn't overload your senses? :)

Pretty much every shmup on GOG has been listed.
Astebreed
Crimson Clover (which I personally think is excellent, even with some minor flaws)
Raiden Legacy
Raiden II
Raiden III
Raptor
Revolver
Non Bullet hell shmups
Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender
Crimsonland
Symphony
Dyad

I started a thread a little while back to get Mushihimesama and more shmups on GOG:

https://www.gog.com/forum/general/to_gog_on_mushihimesama_and_getting_back_to_your_roots/page1

Mushihimesama (a game developed by CAVE) was turned down by GOG even though the game has been on Steam for a while now and runs perfectly on PC.

It seems GOG's content curation program is not interested in the genre. At least not at this time.

For me, these hardcore bullet hell titles are simply pattern recognition games and not really shoot'em ups in the original sense. And with that I mean the general blueprint established by 1980s arcade grandfathers of the genre.

It's just a personal taste of course. I like a challenge, but I'm fond of a design where you still feel you are there in the environment that theme-wise gels with the sprites of your ship and those of the enemies, and it's not merely a wallpaper of death-delivering projectiles.

All you do is look at your hitbox in relation to the onslaught of stuff thrown at you. Overwhelming in that way is no fun for me. Ikaruga, Zero Gunner 2, Under Defeat: just off the top of my head, I loved them on the Dreamcast. But those harder-core games that require you to navigate death-curtain overload all throughout are just not my cup of tea ;)

Agreed. When "bullet hells" became fashionable the genre took a new direction, the way I see it many developers shifted their focus from stage design to bullet design. I like both styles equally though :)

And some games (e.g, Mecha Ritz, Crimzon Clover, Akashicverse, Stella Vanity) really play to the strengths of this modern interpretation of shmups -- exciting set pieces, sensory overload, adrenaline rush... The genre is not dead!
