I'll keep this short and simple -- Are there any games (for a laptop) that allows you to build and run your own golf course?

I know there's the old school SimGolf, but I have Windows 10 and I don't think that's compatible. I really don't care about graphics and being a newer game. I had Golf Resort Tycoon waaay back in the day, but don't think that's compatible with my laptop either. Oh and I'm not interested in GolfTopia. I'm not a fan of mixing golf with sci-fi.

I think I'm SOL but figured I'd give the community a shout out. Y'all know your stuff.

Sid Meier's SimGolf does work on Windows 10. You'll need to strip out the copy protection as that bit doesn't work, but it's pretty easy to do.

If you mean SimGolf (original Maxis version), then I don't know if that works.
On the tabletop side, some people have reported this is a fun experience. (I haven't played it myself.)

Maybe this one: https://store.steampowered.com/app/869060/Resort_Boss_Golf/ ?
Hypothetically speaking: Would SimGolf count?

Like the 90s version? I remember playing that back in the day. I'd rather not play that haha.

Hmm I've never heard of this game.
I checked it out. Even though graphics isn't something I'm concerned with, this game seems a bit too...poor visually. I appreciate you sharing though.

I did mean Sid Meier's SimGolf (sorry for not clarifying). I wish GOG had that, or something similar.

Apologies for taking so long to respond everyone. I appreciate all the input.

Sid Meier's SimGolf will not work on Windows 10 because Sid Meier's SimGolf is a 32 bit program and will not install on a 64 bit system. I tried it and that is what came up upon installation failure.

I would like to know if you purchase Golftopia on GOG are you getting the actual game download or just buying a Steam game key?

Sorry, but if you can't install x86 programmes, then there is an issue with your Windows 10 install, or you're running Windows 10S.

WIndows 10 x64 supports x86 through WoW64. You may be getting confused with 16-bit support, which was deprecated on x64 versions of Windows (as the WoW compatibility layer allowing 16 bit on 32 bit systems was replaced with WoW64, which allows 32 bit applications to run on 64 bit systems).

It is possible that in some jurisdictions Sid Meier's SimGolf was released with a 16 bit installer (although this is unlikely given the game is post 2000). If that's the case, try installing it manually.

Regarding Golftopia (or any game on GoG). GoG does not sell Steam keys. Any purchase of a game here will give you an installer that can be downloaded from the internet and installed on your PC. Due to the nature of the games here, quite a lot of them will have 32 bit executables (so see my point above).
