See thread title. Opening southern's profile results in a 404, when southern tries to log in, he gets a "User not found" error message.

Did gog delete a user's account for a forum post they found disagreeable?

Or is this just a very inconveniently timed bug?

This urgently requires an explanation.

Hopefully GOG just nukes the general discussion board completely and only keeps the game forums. Nothing of value would be lost.

Not a good idea, considering this board is now the only way to get timely responses from the staff these days.
Well, he did state his intention to engage in piracy...so maybe he was preemptively hanged from the yardarm?

he should have done what I mentioned before
You could get all gogs games then smuggle them over to russia and sell them out the boot of a car with printed manuals and covers onto their USB drives.

You could call yourself USBProject like that other famous polish company that started off with the same business plan.
I wonder if anyone can remember who they were. :P

That's exactly what they want.

Well, that's what we're here to find out! :)

(I honestly think it's a bug. Permabanned/deleted users have an error message when you hover over their avatar, that doesn't happen with southern's avatar.)

It's really in the user's agreement that they're allowed to hang users they disapprove of???
Seems pretty drastic that shops are now allowed to do this.

That is just normal when you hide your profile.
Same for me.

User not found when login in - another topic.
Might be technical mishap
Might be a temporal or even permanent ban. Who knows.

"17.2. Our right to terminate the Agreement. If you materially breach this Agreement, we reserve the right to suspend or cancel your access to GOG services and GOG content. By material breach of the Agreement we mean a serious breach which could cause significant harm to GOG, GOG users, as well as, in particular breach of the provisions of section 11 above. If we suspend or cancel your access to GOG services or GOG content we'll take reasonable steps to contact you to explain why we've done this and what (if anything) you can do as a result."

section 11.1.g:
"(g) Don't do or say anything which is or may be considered racist, xenophobic, sexist, defamatory or otherwise offensive or illegal. Be nice to each other please!"

edit: this is not new, all DD stores have provisions like this, gOg has always had it

Not even true, like i don't understand this attuide. The problem is lack of moderation and interaction, it's left like a garden just to grow weeds. This place was, can be, great with some level of effort.

If he said he was going to start pirating games then it's his own fault, isn't it?
The reddit thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/t8q1g4/gog_account_disabled_after_i_promised_to_not_buy/

They're posting their email address left and right, so you can try for yourselves and see that their email is valid (as in there's no "user not found" message). You can also see their wishlist and start a chat conversation on GOG from the drop down menu when you hover the avatar.

Removed, blocked account? Not very likely. Maybe some kind of issue with GOG system, maybe something local on that user's end.

Interesting, does that mean they could block you from your game library? I always thought they only ban people from the forum, but this sounds like they could potentially block access to purchased games.
