...is seriously one of the most garbage, poor excuses for a port I've ever seen. Terrible resolutions, low quality sound, and a shitty "HQ" filter that smudges the sprites. Great. This is almost as shit as Silent Hill HD.

Can we please have the original DOS version here?

DOS version is owned by a different publisher.

It's owned by 3D Realms, which GOG has.

If Steam can have both versions, why can't GOG?

I don't think the DOS version is really any better. I own both copies and didn't really notice much of that. The original game was something like 640x480 or whatever the resolution was at the time. It's going to look like a smudgy crap.

Same goes for sound quality, sound from that era wasn't very good in most cases. If you were lucky enough to own one of those expensive sound set ups it would sound great, but most people had SB or Ad Lib and the sound was pretty bad. I briefly had a Disney Sound Source or something similar plugged into the parallel port and that was rather interesting.

I could be wrong though, I'll have to load up both copies and see how they are.

Ask 3D Realms .

The DotEmu one? Yeah, it's bad. It's not a particularly great shmup to begin with, but I agree that the real version should be here, since it's arguably one of the defining PC shmups from the early 90s.

But given GOG's stance on the genre... I wouldn't hold my breath. We can't even get the good games on here.

You not played the dark souls port then, being physically torn apart by horses is better than that.

I have, and I mean, I'm sure there are worse ports, but this Raptor one is the most useless, pointless port I've ever seen. They did nothing but fuck with the resolution, give us low quality sound (lower than the DOS original) and a shitty HQ filter you could achieve in DOSBox anyways.

I'll probably just end up buying the original on Steam. It's a damn shame GOG doesn't have the original.

Seriously, anybody wanting to play Raptor, DO NOT BUY THIS PORT.
Well, some ports/remakes are not as good as original version.
