It has come to my attention that the automatic process that creates the offline installers when an update happened obviously is buggy. Whenever a game has received multiple updates on Galaxy before the offline installer has been created GOGs system will first create the offline installer for the latest update and shortly after overwrite it with the offline installer for the update before.

You can see how this happened with the recent update for the game Succubus:
https://www.gogdb.org/product/1996206777#changelog

The latest offline installer 1.3.15215 has been created on 2021/11/04 and it replaced the installer 1.2.15019. However just one day later version 1.3.15215 has been replaced with the version 1.3.15142. So while the update cue should have been:

1.2.15019
1.3.15142
1.3.15215

It now has become

1.2.15019
1.3.15215
1.3.15142

In the end we don't have the latest version and the only ones being able to fix this would be GOG. Apparently this bug is quite rare but imo it is also extremely important and annoying and therefore should be fixed asap. Also - if possible - GOG should bring back the latest offline installer 1.3.15215 for Succubus.

You did remember to file a ticket with support, you know well that gog rarely checks these forums Marko.

Unfortunately right now I trust the power of the forum much more than I trust GOG support tbh. The last ticket I opened got answered three months(!) later and they weren't even able to fix the problem. GOGs support was good a long time ago but I've completely lost trust in them .. too many tickets still open - even if I told them how to fix certain issues. It has become tiresome, Maybe GOG is more inclined to fix their bugs when they (the bugs) are exposed to everybody.

Edit: Okay, you are right. The issue is too important - so even if they ignore my ticket ... maybe they don't. Will create a ticket as well.

I hope so, but knowing GOG's shocking deafness, I doubt it.

That's why I changed my mind. This has to be fixed and if there's a better chance when creating a ticket I will do this too.

fair, sorry I am being a downer, I dont hold much hope for gog's long term future, and its beginning to show, I have massively backed on my spending, I only plan two more purchases from GOG this year (assuming they are out in 2021) and not much more, I dont think the site has a life span longer then 5 years and thats me being generous.

Seeing how much the rate of new games here has improved I don't think they will go down any time soon (and I don't want them too). If you ask me the same thing happens again that happened after the big success of Witcher 3. GOG gets too big too fast and can't keep up with the additional work ... add to this the still stupid policy that every employee has to move to Poland and you have a situation that's really hard to handle. If GOG would finally REALLY listen to our feedback (starting with those they had 2017) they can still change things and I just won't give up hope and keep my fingers crossed that this still will happen. Let's see how they wil handle this one.
So, how many games exactly are missing updates/hotfixes due to this issue and are not the fault of publishers/developers like we once thought?

Ys VIII HQ Texture hotfix?
La Mulana 2 1.7.7.2?
Forsaken Remastered 1.4.1 hotfix?
Spelunky 1.47?
etc, etc, etc

With this supposedly being a well known bug, I would really like to know how GOG finds this acceptable. I mean there is nothing like cheating paying customers by selling them inferior products when something can be done to rectify the issue at hand. Must also look really good to the publishers/developers that they do business with. Fix your broken ass programming GOG and quit bullshitting your customers and publishing partners. It just shows how little you care about anything anymore when it comes to doing proper business.

My sincere apologies but it seems as I was wrong when saying that the bug is well known. The guy who told me about it sad that it is well known but only meant that he knows the bug quite well - he never told GOG. So I don't know if GOG even was aware about the bug. I am all about critizising what has to be critizised but I also want to stay fair and the "well known" part of the issue was my mistake and might be wrong. Sorry again.

Who really knows for sure, as we have been hearing about parity issues for a while now between Galaxy and the offline installers. Either way this is something that should be fixed asap as it could lead to more issues, if it hasn't already.

It also brings up the argument that if they knew about it and did nothing, then they are maliciously complacent. If they didn't know about it and didn't figure it out, then they are painfully incompetent. You can see where my faith in GOG is atm because of numerous issues with the website being broken as well as them turning a blind eye to valid criticisms and concerns.

Can you please ask your contact, how long as far as he knows was the bug first introduced? and how many updates were rewritten in this manner?

Why? Does he love the bug so much? :P

If game devs/partners do not report these things to GOG, in which case I doubt they will simply get brushed off or ignored, what can we simple forumites do? Shake our pitchforks?

At this point I'd love it if GOG would just open-source galaxy along with their build system, so that people who are familiar with their APIs can contribute to solving issues. I know I'd be glad to and I don't even count myself among the more talented developers crawling about the forums.

So why did they not tell GOG? We all know they're really good at being deaf, but surely passing the information on at all would be better than sitting on it...

Yeah, but they have changed over the years, for the worse. When I was still in contact with the higher ups last year, they weren't even listening to the user concerns that should of been rectified. Most of which has come back to bite GOG in the ass I will add. Some major changes would have to happen before things would turn around here sadly and by major changes I mean some heads would have to roll.
I sent to support a ticket for AI War 2. It's had 10 or more galaxy updates in the last 2 months but no offline downloads. I've noticed a number of other games without offline downloads. But I thought the offline downloads were manually created.
