Or you could save yourself some weeks of endless mail conversation and simply download everything you want from torrent sites. An illegal copy of a game is an illegal copy of a game. So... I don't think this would be a real problem.

I'm not saying that GOG is awesome and can't improve anymore. Their Galaxy-Client is useless (what does it do that I can't do myself?), the site is broken beyond repair*, support is swamped, communication with the users stopped... No, GOG changed a lot. But taking lessons from Steam when it comes to customer support and quality control? Definitely not!
*great... Can't even post on the forum. Hit "Post my message", watch the "Add new post" window disappear and... That's it.

I am fully aware that Steam has been very far from perfect even though I have not had a problem with any of the 60 games that I've bought on Steam. (which I can't say for GOG, however I figured those problems out for myself) When I bought games from Steam before their return policy I KNEW their policy. That was you buy it, it's yours. Whenever I buy from a place where all sales are final I consider that there is a certain amount of risk and I take every precaution I can before clicking the buy button just like I did on GOG before their policy. However I bought Outlaws under the umbrella of GOG's refund policy and it was not honored. If I buy a game from Steam now and I have a problem with it within 2 hours of gameplay and 30 days from purchase I will get a refund. Yeah, Steam was not perfect, but they didn't give a completely open ended refund policy that is completely subject to interpretation by their support team. Who did that? Oh that's right, GOG!

GOG guarantee that in a 30 days period you can get your money back for whatever reason as long as you haven't downloaded any files and they guarantee that your game will run.
Steam guarantees that within two hours after your purchase you can get your money back for whatever reason but you have to put up with DRM.
Both methods have their benefits and drawbacks. You have to decide which option is better for you but you can't argue that GOG's lie about their policies.
I understand that you are discontent with the support because they didn't even attempt to fix your issue.
The way I see it, though, it is your best interest you are compromising with the decision you've just made.

If I'm not mistaken you can only refund your game for two hours on Steam.
I'm pretty sure that most bugs you are going to encounter will become apparent after two hours. Good luck getting any support on Steam.

We're barely 200 years old and we've been in 9 major wars I can think of off the top of my head (I'm sure I missed a few). XD
All we do is fucking fight! :P

I really hope you're acting in your best interest.
Obviously, it is a great idea informing people what to expect. If you had been informed before you might have still continued to use GOG and just begun to inform yourself beforehand.
I am not entirely sure how you could expect not having to have to inform yourself about that sort of thing on GOG (contrary to Steam) because I was given the same information as you and didn't jump to that conclusion.
For some reason you implied that Kristian is comparing apples and oranges. This is what you're doing imho because you've had a non-issue that you can resolve at least as easily as restarting your game and you're comparing that to a game-breaking bug.

I discovered the music problem with Outlaws within the first 5 minutes of gameplay. Good luck getting any help from GOG that you can't already get from community message boards. I had a problem with MDK 2 that I bought here on GOG that GOG had no clue about, but the fix was reveled by a member of this message board. I've had a problem with massive color problems on both X-Wing and Tie-Fighter that I bought from here that GOG had no information on. I fixed them both myself. Don't tell me that GOG is some great help. I've already been there done that.

About my non-issue, at the time I placed the service ticket I did not know it was as easy to workaround as it was, and neither did GOG Support . GOG told me that they knew about the problem and that they were sorry for my inconvenience. They didn't ask me to try anything to remedy or to work around the issue. Basically I waited almost a week for someone to tell me I was SOL. At that point I was already looking further into a possible solution since it was looking like I was SOL. I've fixed and worked around many issues with GOG games myself before, this one just took me a little longer. Still GOG's attitude that "we know it's broke and we can't fix it and couldn't care less" is what became the problem after I found the fix. Understand my problem is not the game, it's GOG.
