The latest one is:

"No waaay! Yeap, this is happening TODAY..."

Prefixed by some kind of smiley face which I originally quoted here, but which caused this entire forum post to disappear.

GOG, you're dreaming if you think that kind of nonsense isn't going directly to the spam folder, unread.

To be faaaaair, it was worse when they were also using a different font to get noticed. So, progress...?
Agreed.

GOG come on we are all adults here, you dont have to do this funky spam like newsletter titles.
Don't be so tryhard "why hello there fellow zoomers"

its embarrassing.
Since I'm willfully signed up to one sales newsletter, I'll give an example of their typical inbox line:

🍃 Dell Refurbished 48 Hour Sale Event

It's really that simple. One emoji for color, and a very direct subject line.

Pfft. I thought we were all tweens running on glitter and pixiedust.
Screenshot will show it the best. This is a screen of the most recent mails I received from GOG. Not that I'm complaining since I can opt out at any time but still...

Is the population for GOG primarily early teens?

Is there a massive influx of thirteen year olds lining up for some Betrayal at Krondor?

I fucking cackled at this, if it wasn't for a virus burning through the world I'd give you a pat on the back.

There should be zero emoji in any email subject, ever. Any instantly screams, "SPAM!"

Non-alphabetic characters, especially emojis, in the subject is a very bad idea.

Those may (or may not) work for social media, but keep them out of emails.

EDIT: for the record, that emoji in the quoted part deleted my entire reply twice now, so those aren't good for forums either.

That's more GOG's idiocy. I had to paste in that emoji XML style. Why it gets deleted afterward is a mystery known only to the blues.

I feel like there can be tasteful applications. Especially 🤔

The spam filter would make sure a lot of those would never reach me but I chose not to subscribe. And no, I cannot do anything about the spam filter at all.
