MarkoH01: Again, I am not talking about the bot (anymore) I am simply talking about a new system they invented that is faulty at heart and should get fixed asap. All it takes is to include the subject of the title in the e-mail auto replier. Should be a thing of a few seconds and won't cost anything other than those mentioned few seconds of manpower. It puzzles me how GOG did not notice the big flaw in their new system when they invented it ...
I know that, my reference to the Bot was only general, and just one aspect of a wider issue.
My main point, and you could call it a conspiracy if you like, is that GOGs resources, certainly seem to be this way at the moment, and aren't invested in support or the focus on support right now is minimal. Hence the recent issue you raise. You can certainly question their dedication to support when they allow such to occur.
I don't for a minute imagine those running the show are brainless, like some like to declare. So if it isn't due to stupidity, it can really only be deliberate. They have factored in the fallout, like I said, and feel they can cope with it, at least for now.
Simple solution like you say, not relevant if they don't care right now.
Whether it comes back to bite them, is another thing.
I've long suspected them of not worrying about a lot of things, unless the fallout is bad for them or a partner (i.e what happened with Hitman GOTY).
Perhaps it is a bit like, any promotion is a good one .. negativity and notoriety even .. being famous or infamous. If their profits aren't impacted then perhaps they just don't care ... those at the top anyway, who make most of the money, them and shareholders. Perhaps their lack of response to many things, where nothing is set in concrete, even means more sales. Certainly many argue in GOG's favor without GOG having to really do anything. I've certainly been guilty of that a time or two.
Things have changed a lot in the last decade. Many businesses no longer fear being outed on social media like Facebook, where they can sow their own agenda or lies or let others do it for them.
To be bad, can be good for the bottom line perhaps ... if managed in a certain way. I've certainly seen several political parties do that and benefit.
tfishell: imo GOG does seem to perpetually be between a rock and a hard place.
It certainly seems that way.
Not surprising really, in this DRM concentric world. GOG chose a tough task.
