EBToriginal: Look the rep system is easy to manipulate here. That is a fact. As is the fact that gog has zero interest in monkeying with it. It's simply the wrong hill to die on.

darthspudius: Not if we kick up enough of a stinker
We can but hope.
Imagine caring about Internet points... wow.

EBToriginal: You realize how goofy you look right? You had a melt down over a non issue now you have to either keep on full boar or back down and you feel like if you back down it means anything beyond you finally realized the whole thing is a colossal waste of time.

TL;DR people are going to poke you until you stop flinching.
Please fuck off,snake troll.

It's out of control. Maybe the older and higher-rep posters can ignore rep loss, but only a thin line separates negative and positive rep for the little guys (like me). I was at 70 rep 24 hours ago, and now I'm at 59. Why? Who knows! Maybe I'll be at -20 when I wake up tomorrow. I'm not a famous poster who can fall back on everyone recognizing me. It's worrying.

I thought I could stay out of the downrepping storm by keeping quiet and not interacting with the scammers, but it didn't help. What else am I supposed to do? Let them enter all of my giveaways, like they asked? I somehow don't think that's a good idea. If nothing else, the downrep button needs to be removed. The Steam User Forums seem to get along just fine with only a +rep option.

Cadaver747: Don't you see that it's not your reputation they are after but your comfort zone. You're just giving them just what they want.
I propose to just ask every sane person here to just vote every your posts up instead ;)

SalarShushan: ^This^ I am up-repping pretty much every decent post on the thread. C'mon everyone we can turn this around if we stand against it. Up-rep all downrepped posts that aren't deserving of downrepping. Its pretty obvious when someone is being ganged up on and their posts are kind or at least reasonable. I'm up-repping all kind posters too as a preventative against any punitive stuff. Please join in?.

My own 2 cents? Gunsynd, please don't take a real economic hit by deleting your account and access to great deals on games you love because of some stupid trolls. You can keep your full account and just ignore the forums if they annoy you that much. Your anger caused you to lose perspective for a bit, but I hope you will see that now that you've had some hours to calm down and not feel obliged to follow through.

Okay - lots of posts since then I can can't stand to up-rep :P

BillyMaysFan59 is a seriously nice guy, Gunsynd. Please don't do that again? Thanks.

Anyway, I've off-set what damage I can to everyone and those who weren't attacked should see a net boost. Here's hoping for a saner tomorrow

I liked the cheesecake recipe. Here's another
Agree with this. Unfortunately when I tried to up rep this post I downrepped and reported it because of a laggy site. I have now uprepped it and apologise.

Most of us "hypocrites" were saying the exact same thing - "It's just a number" - when our reps were well below your current number. This is hardly the first round of "rep abuse", something that has been discussed periodically since the early days.

Kinda tired of being chastised as part of this group simply because my number is relatively high. I think I've held 3 public giveaways, for a whopping 15 "bought" points. Hell, let's call it 100 points. So maybe that 1,000+ 'status' has something to do with the manner in which we have participated in the forum? Lots of 1,000+ people don't hold giveaways (or rarely do) so I think the "buying rep" claim is, frankly, a load of shit.

gOg: call the bluff.

Like I said, he lacks the self awareness to better himself and give up a pointless whine that has long transgressed the original point to how much of a crybaby the OP is.

No because you are the big strong man who solves all his problems by punching them in the face, but had a massive panty wadding tizzy fit over a number on an Internet forum.

That is goddamn hilarious and I will ride it until you let it go.

Just makes you as equally pathetic.
