jamyskis: Well, if you google it, the first link proudly states "The home of Britain's best loved faggots."

It's a type of meatball.

omega64: Wow.
To be honest "meat" is a bit loose. Think more along the lines of dibblers sausages.
I've only had good experiences. Every problem I've ever had they've solved to my satisfaction. Sometimes it takes a while, but they've always been good.

snowkatt: well they are better then steam support i suppose
I thought Steam fired their support person.

They got another one, he puts in a few hours every week copying and pasting the same answer.

Yep, all them bits and the others. Although we don't eat horses here, some strange cultural thing, never had a problem with it myself in stoofvlees.

Is there such a thing as Steam support?

I'm not trying to be an ass here (I know, hard to believe) but I've even heard from Steam fanboys that their support is either shit or totally non-existent.
Mixed, from utterly useless to quickly resolved.

I haven't used it myself though there have been some games that have caused problems.

But I'm glad it's there should i ever decide that I simply MUST get title XYZ working instead of tackling something else from the backlog. Anecdotally, I recall reading a lot more "they fixed it" posts than "they were useless" posts.

Ultimately, Support is a pretty thankless job. It's made tougher for them since they're dealing with products up to, erm, 36 years old at this point, multiple different operating systems, countless hardware and software configurations, with people all around the world who run the gamut of technical capability when it comes to providing configuration details and following instructions, for titles that cost anywhere from $90 or so down to $0. That they solve any game problems is a bit of a miracle.

SkyExplorer: possibly what happened in my situation?

JMich: Yours is an old account (December of 2013) that had little to no activity, that suddenly wishes to change the display name. That does usually trigger a "possibly compromised account" flag, thus why GOG asks for a bit of confirmation.
Didnt really had much to play to begin with. Most old games were not very interesting to play (for me at least), as in only the Fallout series only. Now No Mans Sky is coming out and ill be damned if id ever waste a single extra cent on Steam. You can see others activity?

(snip)
If they did 'delte' your account, you can still play the games you bought.

Not directly, but I don't recall encountering you, and the 1 rep is usually (though not always) representative of a first time poster. GOG staff do have access to a bit more info about what an account has done, though unless one uses Galaxy, they can't view how long a user has been playing a game either.

Have had good responses the few times I needed it in the past decade. Two times? Maybe 1, only remember the one which was an advanced case but was resolved in 2-3 tickets after I provided the necessary information, the only issue was that the responses took too long. So the quality of support has been good for me, it just needs to be faster.

Given how support complaints for GOG seem to be becoming a more regular thing on the forums relative with their growth I doubt GOG will fair much better if it ever grows to Steam's size.
