steam has near 7100 games and 6300 DLCs
god i hate dlc's :( the gaming dev community have gone to far with dlc paid content

in order for other publishers to notice that gog is a good alternative and sign here and release their games
we need at least 3500 games here, well 1340 currently is not quite there yet

who knows in time maybe gog.com will be a steam replacement and cut their monopoly

I don't want to shop at Steam.

GOG is doing just fine.

And the Escapees DLCs are great! :D

But half of those 7100 games are full of bugs or RPG Maker/Flash games.

GOG does not need more games. It needs more quality, stable releases, eventually more patching work done on games that are already in the library, as some of them still have problems.

You are right. No way EA, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Disney, Paradox Interactive, Warner Bros, Stardock or any other of the big publishers would publish anything on a platform that doesn't have at least 10,000 titles.
Oh, wait...
Origin and Uplay respectively come with even lesser amounts of games than GOG has currently, yet they are used more than GOG, so the game library affecting usage is not really an argument. Its more like who's in support of GOG from the big players.

yes they released here some of the titles, but for some particular AAA titles devs are too stubborn to drop the drm

Well it's been a while since we had a release from WB or Disney. Still waiting for the other adventure games from Lucas Arts. :-( I was hoping to be able to play the GOG-version of Monkey Island 3 this Christmas but that's not going to happen.

origin and uplay should call quits. we dont need another installer to fragment our libraries to their site accounts
they are a bust like games for windows

7100 has to be some lowest end estimate. There are probably 7100 early access games alone. I refuse to believe 12+ million people get on their service for a paltry 7000 games.

GOG ofc is very different. Its a curated market, and obviously won't have as many games.

yes they started fresh with a different perspective drm-free which obviously steam didnt force that requirement to devs
...or they didnt think of it from start

what i want to see is gog releasing retail games at cheap prices manufactured by them... one can only dream
The only place GOG needs to 'step up their game' IMO is more and better personnel.

quality titles - yes
stable release - devs are to blame

also gog should drop their patch naming and implement the games patch number instead
with low game library gog will always be the underdog in the market, steam is not that great as everyone thinks

achievments is not yet implemented here for all games, not too mention multiplayer
this is a big downside for purchases

Not like there is anything wrong with rpg maker games though i never tried to buy one on steam yet, i only played free ones which doesn't need to hide from AAA games. Though i mostly played german ones and a few english ones.
gog needs to get rid of annoying scammers and their fake alts like nes through paygate first

there's quality and quantity....

steam has all latest games, thats true, but thats because of the companies who just love DRM and full control are all there.

Second: i rather go for quality anytime then quantity, there is so many garbage at steam, its incredible.

shower with your dad?

wtf is that? maybe it sells well but its not a decent game its just stupid.
Further more never forget that steam also has lots of casual games... GOG does not have casual games.

Gamersgate also has loads of casual games like hidden object and othjher small time managment games, so you have to remove at least 1000 or more titles, because casual games cant be compared to real games.
Casual games can be fun, i have 500 or so on 190 dvd all retail bought from bol dot com (dutch/belgium only)
but you can't call them really a good game like fallout and other classics.

There are 1000s, maybe 5K of alpha game, buggy as hell, you have to buy these and hope they will get a full release, so also deduct that amount from the total...
nah steam is maybe mass, but the quality is (very) low, only the real games should be counted for.

Steam is only okay for me because i love casualgames, but most of steams older casuals are already in my collection, drm free and on retail cd/dvd so no stupid steam clienst and or 3rd party accounts needed.

Finally: you want to play a steam game? okay, but lots of times you get errors saying steam is outdated or some licenses could not be found then you have to check the integrity , maybe get a new install, and all that time you cannot play your bought game.

Updates from steam, you have to wait till its done before you can play/start your game now thats very user unfriendly.
With gog i can play the game after i installed it, no need to wait till the client like steam is so fond of, has finished its gigabytes of usually slow updating, if and when the server arent available, you cant play your games, so much for steam.

The only thing weird thing is the fact that gamersgate does have all (older) titles of a certain company also DRM free games,
if GG can have these old titles drm free anyone should be able to.

Chronicles of Mystery - The Tree of Life and Chronicles of Mystery - The Scorpio Ritual
are maybe small in playing hours but still decent games, they look like the secretfiles , (minus the nasty drm)
but secretfiles is a little better and longer.

Art of murder also 3 games drm free, these are like Chronicles of Mystery , but a little less but still enjoyable.
So there are many old games drm free on gamersgate from devs we also have here on gog, but still alot of titles arent here even the devs are here.

Anyway i would buy all these titles i mentioned above if they arrive on gog, i have them on GG but here on gog would be better because like i said many times i am a gog user, i have many more games here then on the other sites, but thats because its drm free (ow god i hate drm so much) and the fact that gog is best and also friendliest site , community and staff , compared to all other sites i have acounts on.
These other sites only care about money, and support is very very slow and little.

Gog support is the best compared to the rest of the gameselling sites.
