Offline Installers for Crossroads Inn have been updated to 1.1.
Everything should be fine.

It happened for me with a few games, but the offline installers were allways updated in the end.

I guess its easier for the Devs to maintain the Galaxy updates, than manually upload the offline installers. Therefore for me the delays made sense.
I thought offline installers got an update last year or so to make them easier to create and thus faster. It doesn't appear like they're any faster to create, and it seems to take days until we get an updated version.

It's popping up everywhere now (here's an example with Outward) that it's getting ridiculous. What gives, GOG? I love you, but please, not like that.

I dont think this is an issue related to the GOG staff, but rather the developers. They are responsible for the compiling of the patches & installers. As most of the other stores do not support the feature of offline and client installers seperatly, i guess this has generally lower priority for developers.

I wonder why it's not an automated process. The developer submits the new version, GOG takes care of the packaging.

InkPanther: Sounds like they didn't understand that the installer is broken. Perhaps it would be good idea to reiterate that in your answer to the ticket and link the thread where other people complain about the same thing. Making some unsubstantiated claims about end of offline installers is unnecessary.
Either that or just make it crystal clear from the very start (in the opening paragraph) that you're not looking to use Galaxy and there's no other option than the offline installers.
And that they can save their spiel about the superior convenience of the almighty Galaxy client, even though it's probably just well-meant and not intended to actively push aside offline installers.

Staff answering those support tickets probably have to deal with exceptionally impatient people for the most part - people who want to play their game NAOW (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wAlQf4WdiE&t=119) and will issue for refund, if it's not in working order within the next 10 seconds (= the utmost amount of patience they're capable of mustering up) - so most of the staff is conditioned to just copy-paste the "Galaxy-good-Offline installers-bad"-bit to get those super-impatient people off their back.

Doesn't excuse how the Crossroads Inn-situation has been handled, of course.

Swedrami:
We don't even know what OP wrote in their ticket. From Support response I'd guess it may have been a bit vague complaint about a corrupted installer or download not working correctly.

AB2012: ...if that happened to me with something I just bought and a support ticket resulted in "don't use our offline installers", personally I'd just put in a refund request with a note linking to that forum post and a comment saying you'll rebuy them when the offline installers are fixed.

AstralWanderer: +1 to this but I would strongly suggest waiting until you get a (recognisably) human response to your support ticket - chargebacks should be the last resort rather than the first.

Support takes time to respond (a few days typically), especially if you raise a ticket during the weekend.
I suspect AB2012 was referring to GOG's refund policy.

That's strange. I have contacted GOG support in tha past quite a lot - and I also told them about several broken offline installers. Not once did they tell me about using Galaxy - instead they thanked me and fixed the issue within mostly a few days. It's not really smart from GOG to reply in such a way since they KNOW about the fear several people here have to be forced using Galaxy. GOG should reply hear to make perfectly clear that there is no reason to be afraid - and they should refrain from posting such answers.
Thank you for all your replies and comments! Just for your information: the offline installers are now available in my account and file sizes seem to be ok too (I am just now downloading the game while writing this post)...

I have clearly stated in my ticket to support that the file sizes downloaded did not match the file sizes shown in my account library (e. g. a 680 MB instead of a 4 GB bin file cannot be ok) but I was really fed up about the "just use galaxy" standard reply.

I have had also some positive experience with gog.com support during the weekend and they were able to help me on a Sunday last time I had a problem with offline installers - therefore I probably expected them to just update the files or simply let me know that the files on their site are corrupt/incomplete and that they will get working files after the weekend.... or whatever other useful answer, but the perhaps half-automated response referring me to galaxy really made me mad...

Whatever, the game is now downloading and let's hope for the best for future updates... So have fun and a good gaming week :-)!

The installers & patches are made by GOG. Never by the devs.

Dalswyn: That fits in with my experience from the last couple of days: Septerra Core runs like a charm if and only if I launch it from Galaxy. It will not start if I try the desktop shortcut.
does galaxy "patch" something if you sync the offline installer to the galaxy client, is there a file missmatch? i would be curious to see what changes or whats launched via Galaxy over what you launch.

How come there's multiple examples of indie devs whining about creating old-school patches for GOG versions then?

The developer of Streets of Rogue said that making updates for GOG is "very, very easy".

It's usually because they wrote their software in a shitty way (i.e., implemented Steamworks integrations or some such) and have to do a special build just for GOG to remove all the cruft.

Of course but not the preperation of the actual content of those patches.
