They do though. Most games here will work under Windows 7 or 8/8.1. And true that Windows 7 might not be new anymore, but compared to the operating system and requirements that alot of these games are designed for it is new. And most of the games here will run fine under 10, GOG just don't solely cater to Windows 10 users.

Out of the 561 games I own for example I think 3 have issues under 10 (one of them was pretty annoying to get running even back in the day.)

A few games will need third party patches, which GOG don't include due to obvious reasons, but they are not tough to find online.

And you mentioned Gothic 1 & 2 in your post specifically. They do run under Windows 10, the videos just have issues. There is a third party patch to fix that but i'll need to look for it and get back to you.

Hyperbolic drama queen thread title and OP aside, it is pretty infuriating when Steam versions get patches and fixes that GOG does not. KotOR 2 is a great example, a game I own on GOG but recently replayed on Steam because of a patch GOG never got which improves modern Windows compatibility and adds widescreen support.

Not sure whether that applies to Gothic 1 and 2 or not as the OP says, but either way it should never happen. Ever.

I just recently played Gothic 1 and 2 from GOG on my Windows 10 pc and both worked absolutely fine (with the SAME FIXES used on the Steam version, which are all available on https://www.worldofgothic.com/)

I definitely understand the frustration of somebody who picks up these games expecting them to just work and is surprised by the need to apply fan made patches BUT the Steam versions are even worse as they also need the latest official patches to work.

Good Old Games honestly works for everything anyway, just read it as "them's some good ol' games" and you're golden.

How would you feel if the FCKing Operating System most people use (to play steam games) breaks compatibility of your stuff every 6 months?

I see many old games being updated, sometimes creating other bugs in the process.

Microsoft is not making things any easier.

Are the games good? Arguably.
Are they old? Quite.
Are they games? Well, yes.

Nowhere in their name did they promise WORKING games. That would be WOG or WGOG if we're keeping the "good" stipulation.
