And since our courts can't possibly stop every murder before it happens I guess we should stop prosecuting murderers?

But my computer/phone manufacturers and Microsoft didn't ignored what customers want to pleased the Chinese...what GOG is doing now makes me feel like the players that want the game are not important to GOG and they didn't even respond just shows they really don't care.

It seems more like self-censorship that major outside pressure. Just like the mandatory underwear for my Cyberpunk character, it's a business decision meant to generate a larger userbase.

You see, we are all equally worthless to CDP, CDPR and GOG. We exist only as possible sources of revenues that need to be maxed out. There is nothing to be gained from fighting amongst ourselves but if we stand together, we might not get scammed into buying unfinished products again.

As for the game, itself... I don't dislike RedCandleGames. I got their previous game "Detention" on Steam. They offered an apology and made changes to the game to avoid offending anyone in the future. They should get a chance to release the game again at some point. I don't dislike the CCP and Xi Jinping, either. It is up to the Chinese people to decide what kind of leadership they want and what they feel offended by. But I will say that I believe mainland China and Taiwan are stronger together and still share much common ground in terms of history and culture.

I also believe that GOG would be stronger by listening to its userbase and living up to its own standards.
If you don't want to list a game because you fear past controversy could spark future controversy then don't decide to pull back just before you had announced a release. GOG needs to decide what its identity is supposed to be. Are you here for people who want preservation of good ol' games? Are you here to give everyone a DRM free option without compromise? Or do you just want to grow a bigger userbase and more profits by any means necessary to become the poor man's steam of people scammed into the Cyberpunk Beta? A place of sometimes. Sometimes DRM. Sometimes old games. Sometimes new games. Sometimes pulling a game to possibly have more leverage with another batch of future users?

Uhhh duh....that is with every business....Nobody cares about you or me....not gog , not scheam , not m$crosoft , not apple etc.

But they will have to fix their mistakes when it messes with their money. When everyone refunds a broken game, releasing another broken game will not be on the agenda again anytime soon.

If you talk about consoles yes ..they should fix (regarding ps4 and xbox one....ps5 and xbox series will receive enhanced edition in 2021 at least)...on Pc the game is fine ...in probably 1-2 months things will be fixed....Let's not pretend that every game doesn't have bugs on release....Thing is people got dissapointed because they thought this would be a real life game...people like me that kept their expectations on a good level and know how the witcher 3 was we are happy.

Nobody is forcing you to buy or play the game...Just don't buy it if you don't like it. Imagine if I had the restaurants remove your favorite dish from the menu because I'm allergic to it. it's just not right, also the "offensive" content in the game had already been removed 2 years ago...what exactly offend you guys now?

I don't think they're offended, they're scared that their government won't allow them access to the whole store anymore, if the release of Devotion draws attention to it. (That's not to excuse it, just to give an explanation what these "messages from gamers" might have been about.)

It's impressive how international the GOG userbase is. All the more surprising that GOG didn't give this planned release more of a thought. I agree with you, friend. Red Candle Games should get a chance to release the game again. The offensive content was removed. Besides, one indie game doesn't change anything about the bigger picture.
The entire EU acknowledges the One-China policy and there is no change to that on the horizon. Not much harm is done if a Polish company adds a game to its store that was made by people who probably don't like Xi Jinping very much.

Because there is neither transparency nor consistency in anything they put out recently. GOG is not keeping it together.
It's all just poor life choices like that time when I preordered Cyberpunk.
