So I got this problem first when I bought Riddick some time ago. My internet connection was pretty sh*tty back that time so it took hours to download the damn game. And it wouldn't download correctly... it didn't matter if I was using GoG downloader or I tried through the browser it always ended in a failure. So I tried again and again and for the 6-7th time it finally downloaded without any error or missing file.
Now I have a much better internet connection so I thought there wouldn't be any problem when I purchased SWAT 3 but I was wrong once again. I can't download it though the browser because it always ends in an error display saying I run too many things at once (which I don't) and the downloader just stops merely second before it would finish downloading the game and it stays that way no matter what I do.
So I search around in the support section and what do I find again and again? Use galaxy. That's the solution. Use the 100% optional client because without it you won't be able to access the game you just purchased. Well no GoG, I won't use your client because I don't want to. I don't care if it's the most awesome thing ever created I won't install another client, I'm sick of them.
In the end I just torrented the thing under 2 min. then deleted the torrent client. I was done in about 10 minutes. No hassle, no extra crap to run in the backround. And don't even start about how torrent is stealing 'cause I bought the game, I just couldn't access it and that is a pretty big problem if you ask me.

Please GoG continue to support your downloader. I like this site, I like that you sell games without DRM but if I have to get the game I purchase here illegally just to play it...I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

You can still use Galaxy as a simple offline installer downloader. Simply click "Backup & extras" and you can download the offline installers and extras and then exit out of Galaxy completely once you have downloaded all that you need.

Judas, I apologise in advance for the question, because you quite probably get it a million times per day, but is there an ETA for a Linux version of Galaxy? At least a beta? I'm one of those fools who actually like the idea!

But it's also, like, a client and stuff. That's, like, totally evil unlike a seperate downloader which, like, totally is not.

Well that sound as being an issue with you browser, your computer or your Internet connection, not really anything under GoG control, I never had any issues downloading even big games from the browser.

You don't want to use GoG client to download the game installer... but you have no issue using a Torrent client to download a version that may or may not contains malware or virus and may give your IP address to some copyright watchdog... not really sure if that makes much sense...

Well in short: Yes! I wouldn't call it evil though. If you fail to realize the difference between GoG Galaxy and the GoG downloader then I don't know what to say to you.

Wow, you completely missed my point! I don't know how you could, I think my comment was clear but whatever. I haven't checked yet but I can image there wouldn't be any problem downloading with galaxy. There is however a problem using the downloader. I would appreciate if people would post helpful comments.

I didn't know about that, thanks for the heads up! Maybe I was a little harsh I would like to apologize for that.

Thanks for everyone who posted something helpful. I can probably solve the problem from here :)
