Just wanted to add that I also download most of my games directly through the web browser, and I rarely encounter problems. ( And my internet connection is far from ideal. )

The problem is most likely on your end, but I have no idea why or what exactly... Just start by trying a different / more recent browser, as some have already suggested.

Yea, let's make GOG to use torrents to download games we bought....and by that i mean get a torrent file of the game we hadn't bought, now you know why.

I know GOG do have problems with web downloading, but it impacts so a small percentage of users that support states they won't fix it. I know of this problem since I run into it regularly. Problem: If you have, like me, two IP addresses, One for me and one for my ISP, then gog's download logic can't work.

All I get from that is that you're still learning English.

Other stores offer torrents for downloads. I don't see why GOG can't.

yeah, i love the "your display driver has stopped working and successfully recovered" feature on firefox 45 when you watch html5 youtube videos. ;-P

I guess the connection can be speedy, yet have some kind of issues, like losing packets or getting corrupted packets or something like that all the time. Dunno.

Of course if you never see this problems while downloading dozens of gigabytes from other sources with the same browser, then it appears to be something wrong specifically between your computer and the GOG download servers. Maybe you get connected to some shitty GOG servers, while I am lucky to get a connection to the good ones?

I presume Steam downloads work for you because they are not direct http downloads either, but have some internal download integrity checking of their own, something that http browser downloads don't. So just because Steam downloads work for you, doesn't tell for sure if you are having some issues with your connection.

As I said, it would be nice to get some p2p functionality... but then I presume GOG would integrate that to their Galaxy client, so you would still have to use it to get the extra functionality. I am not sure what exactly GOG can do to fix the issues some (like you) have when trying to download directly with a web browser, without using any other kind of clients, even p2p "clients" (putting the ""s there as I know the distinction between servers and clients in a p2p network isn't quite the same...).

EDIT: Ok I just saw you were thinking of giving Galaxy a chance after all, after learning it allows you to download the offline installers as well, just like e.g. the GOG Downloader did... Hopefully it provides you with better success rate downloading them.

It's not, I've been using Firefox since forever and haven't encountered it. :P

it is the driver, but it's the most stable driver for me and i updated around 2 months ago. i could update but then something else would break. best leave it alone ;-)

Hm, the support section is very likely wrong in this case. GOG Galaxy is completely optional. This means that if you cannot download through your browser you can just ask for your money back but of course have to give the GOG support team the chance before to fix the issue, especially by upgrading your browser to the newest version. After all you cannot expect the GOG team to support all possible versions of older browsers.

I think it goes without saying that all GOG games should be fully downloadable with just an ordinary browser in the overwhelming number of cases. After all it's just a download.
