My VISA Electron debit card works just fine, perhaps it's a problem on your part?

As I said, I checked with my bank.
I doubt its gog doing that. Very probably the issue is with your bank. I remember some other US users mentioning that their banks declined payments to gog.

Have you used it on other sites? Only on GOG doesn't work?

It works fine with Steam
I try to stay away from using cards on GOG as that just includes foreign transaction fees. Not sure if your bank is blocking foreign transactions. Using PayPal tends to remove those hassles.
I had troubles in the past with my VISA as well. It worked on every site but gog.com. And now its working here again. :o

ToxicGopher:
in the checkout, select paypal and continue - you should be taken to a screen with a "pay by debit / credit card option" (you may need to switch browsers for this).

it will "hold" a small fee (in my case it was £1) the first few times you do this with any email - but you'll get that money back a few days later.

you dont need a paypal account to do this!

only one possible issue for you is buying this way from sites in other currencies as paypal usually no longer offers currency conversion for this method and you may be hit by banking fees in such a case.

Check again with your bank. GOG is registered in Cyprus and I believe many banks in the US block transactions there, as they deem it high risk (GOG is safe though). You may have to whitelist GOG with your bank.

Sorry about your problem. I use VISA Debit and Paypal, and have never had a problem.

This exactly. We've seen this issue about 5000 times by now, and it's always Americans who have it, because only American banks choose to arbitrarily block transactions to certain countries without telling anyone.
