Indeed, what a bunch of hooey and I guess he slept through the whole paid mods debacle where Valve graciously provided a platform for modders to get an extremely generous 25% share of the revenue, while wiping their hands clean off any responsibility towards quality control or monitoring of stolen mods as long as they got their standard 30% much like how the rest of the store functions.
I knew he started a spark the second he posted that message. There is no point explaining it to those people, Steam is like a god to them and listening to reason is out of the question :-)

tldr: Don't bother :D

This is an epic point for being PRO for a DRM free copy... and its only of the good points.

as Ganni1987 said... No reason trying to explain... Two options here. You follow the herd or you actually check stuff to understand what is really happening.

I'm assuming your point here was that you could *play* it on all 7 at the time with the GOG version?

I really don't see the point in Voqar bumping a year old post just for that though :/

Could you be more condescending and insulting?? You seem can't even imagine a second that some people can genuinely like Steam, without being "fanboys" (which, after all, is just a word created to discredit opponents).

Yes, I like Steam very much. Absolutely non intrusive, to my opinion. Never had a problem with it, ever. Yes, I know, in the current state of things, you don't really own games on Steam, you "rent" them. And so what, as long as you are aware of it? So, does it make me an horrible fanboy?

In addition, I also use Uplay AND Origin. Satisfied by both services, thank you. Both have always run flawlessly for me.

So, should you prepare the bonfire?

It happens that I'm also a heavy GOG user. And I'm satisfied by their service, even if by nature it is slower than the other ones, in terms of updates.

What I can't stand is that so-called moral stand of some people, despising people using Steam, Uplay or Origin. Bunch of hipsters...

I have 3 computers, I buy from gOg and install on all 3. I buy from Steam and install on all 3. However, I am only able to play on one computer at a time, be it from gOg or steam... not sure what I do wrong....

the main difference is that Steam sync many of my games saves between my 3 computers for me.

Calm your horses, no need to be so angry. I don't hate Steam Uplay, Origin users etc. But I surely don't like close minded people that come out with a "The whole DRM thing is really laughable" comment, that's like an indirect insult right at GOG.

My best friend uses Steam too, you don't see me being a hipster and hate him for it.

wrong you can play it on all 3 if you bought the game from GOG...because it is DRM free.

I mean I can play and my wife can play and our friends kids whoever can play on all 7 PCs at the same time.

hehe - that is a lot different. I can only play one computer at a time.

edit -and if I set on of my computers in steam offline mode, my better half can also play my steam account at the same time as me.

And what will happen the next time that computer gets set back to online mode? will steam try to synch her game to yours?

Not if you're using Family Sharing

Looking away from family sharing, if Steam notices a discrepancy in save games, it askes you want to to do.
