Hi, guys. I learned about GOG while watching The Witcher 3 event yesterday. I was originally thinking of getting the game of Steam, but GOG made it sound so better with no DRM policy. But my question is how do you guys update games? I know that GOG Galaxy is not required, and so if you don't use the program, how would you update the game? Thank you in advance.

Everytime you login on GOG page, you can see a white number into a red square next to "My account". That means you either have new games or updated games. If you go to "my games", you will have an option to filter new or updated games. Just go to the game you want and depending on the game, download the update or the entire game again (it depends on each update).

That´s how I do it, at least.
Then isn't Steam easier to update? Just update it and it's done.

Could be easier, but also a more dumb choice. I choose not to be lazy.

Steam has automatic update which is more convenient but the method for manually updating isn't that difficult as you just have to run the installer and the rest is easy. Also GOG Galaxy will hopefully be functional by the time of The Witcher 3 release next year which will have automatic updating just like Steam. You also get amazing extra content pre-ordering here that is exclusive to GOG that you won't find on Steam like The Witcher Adventure game Closed Beta passes for example.
The DRM aspect is an important one for some. It depends on your priorities. There are other reasons to shop at GOG though. For one thing CDP get 100% of the money to fund more development of Cyberpunk and other games. For another thing you get a lot of extras not found in the Steam edition.

If you're worried about patched, which I understand because GOG's patching system for modern games sucks terribly, be aware that GOG Galaxy will likely be out by the time Witcher 3 is, which should add Steam-like patching.

Well said. Also note that Steam's "auto-updating feature" is very buggy and attempting to disable a game from auto-updating often doesn't work. Why would one wish to choose not to auto-update? For me it is when a patch is released that seems to break more than it fixes, which can be quite common with modern gaming.

GOG can be a little slow getting patches before Steam for some games, which is something I'd love to see change.

The main benefit to GOG over Steam in most cases is that GOG is always DRM free. Meaning once you get the game, the internet and the world can explode, but you'll be happily sitting up in your Earth escape pod playing away in space whilst the rest of civilisation has perished.

Indeed, auto-updating is not always ideal as recently I have been playing Fifa World Beta which isan F2P game. It was working quite well for a Beta but then they patched it and the game became broken where I lost 3 matches that I had actually won. And yes DRM Free is the main attraction on GOG, the games bought are truly owned here and can be played as long as you have a running PC and electricity even if you're the last person on Earth. :)

Hopefully GOG Galaxy will have better options for handling updates for the games when it comes out and overall is highly customizable as compared to the limited settings available on Steam.
Like the other Witcher games, can you use your keys to activate it on GOG too if you've bought it elsewhere? You'd miss out on just a couple of exclusives to get it on, say, Steam + activate it here later for the GOG bonuses. If everything follows the same trends then it should be like that unless they feel it undermines the preorders from here.

They aren't doing that that I know of.
If they truly believe in non-drm gaming they shouldn't add DRM when you install on Steam.

With the upcoming GOG client called Gog Galaxy updating will be MUCH MUCH easier, since there will be an auto update function. So I think it's safe to assume that gog version will be much more interesting to get.
With the amount of goodies offered on gog for preorder, the new gog client and the fact you are giving all the money to the developers there is no contest.
I want to buy from GoG to support CDPR, but right now GoG price for me is 48$ and Steam price is about 28$..
Sometime if you like something , you must make some sacrifice, Steam try to dig the GoG ideea...for me it is 44EU on Steam and 35EU(48$) on GoG, even if were your price I will buy from Gog, also you can find a friend to buy for you(I think)...
