So, in this thread I'd like people to get out their soapboxes and tell people what they should buy during this year's summer sale and why it's the most amazing thing in the world.

Going first, I think you should buy Divine Divinity. It's the first game I bought on this site, and it's why I made an account here. I've never played the Diablo series, but it's in the same genre of isometric RPGs. There's a great deal of exploring you can do and you can do quirky things like wear a pot as a helmet (clearly ripping off PUBG) and making a bed out of piles of hay. Or carry around a bed. Or put a bed in a chest. Or putting chests in a chest. The main reason you should play it, though, is that it's funny. It has a sense of humour in a way that a lot of games don't, and it's just really enjoyable to play. There's even fun easter eggs where you can literally fight software bugs.

It's also currently £0.49.

You damn well convinced me with that paragraph...and then I found out that I bought the game last summer! I would've saved a few cents if I'd waited until now, but oh well. At least I have it.

You should play it! :D And if you like it, you could buy another Divinity game from Larian before the sale ends.
Buy Shadow Tactics BECAUSE...

If you don't, I'll move in.

Divinity 2 is even better. You get to be a dragon. Dragons are all the rage. Have you seen one set your house on fire? It's epic.

i own it.
Someone told me to skip it and get Original Sin, but that's TBS so no way.

It's not really TBS as much as Turn-based Tactical RPG.
That's a pretty fine hair to split though.

Strategy is definitely not a good characterisation of what Original Sin is, or even what a lot of games that are referred to as "TBS" are. Strategy and tactics are very different ball games: strategy often absorbs hundreds of hours of your life and involves a ridiculous amount of work. Tactical combat makes things fun if you're not into hack and slash.

(I say this as someone who played thousands of hours of Europa Universalis III and was a beta tester for EUIV. Strategy, especially grand strategy, is wonderful, but it's a massive timesuck. Mixing actual strategy gameplay with RPGs would be the biggest black hole for time known to man.)
I'm currently plowing myself to Sacred Gold, but playing it made me realize what a great game Divine Divinity is. They both have larger than life maps, but it never dull in DD. And of course you the enemy respawn is Sacred is terrible. Oh, the teleporter pyramids are qenius.

A quick tip: if you play as a thief, the best knife in the world located only if you pays the street performer.
Are the Stalker games in the sale? Yes? Buy those.

Independence War 2, so long as you have a decent joystick.

Mount and Blade: Warband, unless you hate fun. Some really good mods for this title, too.

Those are so good that me getting on my soapbox is not necessary. Okay, maybe I-War2 won't trip everyone's fancy. But hell, just for the Newtonian space flight alone it gets a nod.

Agreement on Divine Divinity. At 59 cents US? C'mon.

It pays to be generous. :)

Sacred Gold has been on my wishlist for several years, but I've yet to pull the trigger. Incidentally, it's odd that its sequel is on heavy discount at the moment and the first one isn't.

Get out of here STALKER. :D

I think I actually put STALKER on my review list, so that's a good shout, thanks. :)

Different publisher. Gold is Strategy First' and no games from that publisher currently on sale. All from Deep Silver is 75% off.
Stalker games have already been mentioned, I second that recommendation.

I'd add the Freespace games, even if they're 20 years old, the space combat in those games is fantastic, absolutely great experience. Decent atmosphere of a grim war for survival too.

EDIT: Oh, and if you're interested in a hardcore rpg with great turn-based combat and many choices and different quest lines I'd recommend Age of decadence.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Incidentally, you reminded me of something I've wanted to try for years: Silver, which is currently on 50% off. Before it was released on GOG I read a detailed love letter to Silver asking for it to be sold here, and I was just sold on it. Wish I could find that post.

I think I own the first one and got it for free but the second one, I bought. I am more interested in playing the second one because it looks right up my alley. TBS is something I dabbled in with Pokemon but anything other than that is either platforming or 3rd person rpg which Divinity 2 is.

Turn base tactical RPGs or Real Time Strategy I tend to get really picky on.
