smrtgi19: I want GOG to flag the games where the developer gets a royalty or paid... I'd rather support indie developers who get a cut rather than hog all for publishers
To me that doesn't make much sense for the most part, because the developers are usually employees. They get a monthly pay (and maybe a bonus for a job well done afterwards), and after the game is done, they move to other projects, some may decide to switch to another employer (even before the game is finished), some people join the game project halfway etc. Pretty much the only exception are some one-person projects which are still owned by the original developer (like Minecraft is not anymore) etc.
Especially with old classics, it doesn't make sense to expect that all the original developers are still getting money from those old games.
Think of movies. There are tons of people making them, even the simplest indie movies. They don't get royalties afterwards for the movie (depending how well it is selling), but they were paid for their work when they helped creating the movie. This includes the actors, the people who did some special effects, the trainee who was making coffee for the crew etc.
Cavalary: Wouldn't this basically mean self-published games?
Even that is not a sure way to tell if the original developers are getting any money from the extra sales. Maybe some of the developers have moved to some other company, maybe new people have joined the company (who were not even working with the said game), maybe their contract is that only the owner of the company gets any money from sales while all the employees get a monthly pay + some one-time bonus, etc.
All I could really think of are games which are/were basically one-person projects. I always thought e.g. Minecraft was such but then I am unsure if Mojang hired other people later, and later the guy sold Minecraft to Microsoft.
