it's difficult to say, but i think i took a few 20 minute naps between 6 and 9 am. Things are a bit hazy around that time ;)

What do you mean? Everyone is more or less a day-vig, no? Or do you mean a guaranteed kill? How is that fairer (also, what do you find unfair in the lack of it)?

I meant a dedicated day kill to replace the missing night. We eliminated the Mafia team very easily, I thought.

yeah usually unless dedo's here i get a lot of sleep. But school holidays are the perfect time to deliberately sleep deprivate yourself for the benefit of a wildly unpredicatble social deduction game!

i was thinking in an ordinary mafia game if a town leads a mafia wagon the nightkill is there to help the mafia not get stuck with them, and even if they don't nightkill that town the fact that there is a nightkill gives the towns something to think about and paranoia themselves apart over.
So i think once AZ had got bucktooth the mafia really had very little options - they couldn't target him without revealing themselves, the only way they could get town to turn on him was not get caught, but they'd only had a small amount of shot opportunities and scene tried to get the group talking and analysing but if anything it just drew attention to him.

This was an unlucky game from the mafia's perspective, but it's made me think having a couple of power roles or mafia abilities might help sow a bit of confusion and get the town a bit more paranoid - which is always a threat in mafia classique.

Mafia shouldn't be afraid to target each other in this game; that's more than simply effective bussing: I'd call it near-essential. I won the second (iirc) russian roulette for the mafia team by killing a fellow mafia early on, and then not giving town the time in the end game to analyze who targetted whom, but coasting on my town-creds.

I was entertaining the following scenario - scum!AZ comes in 13 years late and about to get auto-killed. He has no time to cover the whole thread and figure out a course of action but he sees in the scum-chat his buddies told him to shoot bucktooth. So he does and he gets semi-unlimited credibility.

Or scum!Lift comes in and shoots his only remaining buddy Wyrm.

How long do you keep shooting Townies until you turn on one of these two?

Yeah, that was kind of unusual. Last RR game I played, we got down to a very tense final three. I think dedo (town) shot me (also town) and that was that.

There was another town who shot a mafia but they were instantly revenge-killed by a town who's name i can't remember right now (but they had a rockin bod that i do recall) so you didn't have to deal with that, i think you got lucky with that one
I had to go and find Dedo's eternal shame to remind myself of what a boob he is.

This is just something silly we do as a filler between games. I think adding too many extra stuff to it will just featurecreep it. Balance? Fair? Who cares... Shoot X. That's all the strategy that's needed.

But perhaps going by my record I'm not the best person to take RR advice from.

I'm with ZFR here. I think worrying about balance in RR is to miss the point of it. The game is mostly decided by RNG, so worrying about what's fair is silly. It's the mafia equivalent of snakes and ladders, there's not much room for skill.
