RWarehall: I see some of the "usual people" have decided to stop by and try to provoke people in order to attempt to get the mod to close the thread. Hopefully Linko has started to get wise to your tactics. It should be clear which people are actually trying to discuss the topic on hand and which people came here just to cause trouble in their vain attempts to get another topic they dislike closed.
------------
Back on topic. I find it truly amazing how some people accuse Gamergate of leading a trans game dev to a suicide attempt. Ignore the fact this happened a year before Gamergate even happened. When people respond with the facts, the argument changes to how responding to your lies is now somehow "pissing on the grave of the dead".
You can't admit you are wrong. And provably so. The incident happened in 2013. Gamergate started in 2014. Instead you double-down on your false narrative to accuse those correcting the record of being insensitive. I notice, Lucian_Galca how you completely failed to respond to how Alistair Pinsof must have felt to be black listed be the entire cabal of game journalists? No, the only feelings that matter aren't his, but the person who lied to take the money of gamers to support an elective surgery under false pretenses. Chloe's gender has nothing to do with this. She lied to get money from people. And when her lies were exposed, a lot of people got upset at her and rightfully so. What would anyone expect? The same angry tweets were going to happen regardless when the truth came out. At least people didn't have they money squandered on a false cause.
Correcting the record is not "pissing on someone's grave" unless the facts are incorrect, which they are not in this case. But Lucian_Galca, where were you when these game journo activists did the same thing to John Bain aka "Total Biscuit", accusing him of misogyny and hate after he died of cancer? All claiming somehow that speaking up on an issue is the same as harassing people? Chirp...
It's not pissing on someone's grave if it's someone on the "other side" apparently. The problem with these "social justice advocates" is they cannot stay consistent. They have an agenda and their agenda is to attack their opposition no matter what. Truth and integrity means nothing to them. They are morally bankrupt.
The people you should be complaining about "pissing on graves' are the game journalists. Because they were the ones who decided it was a good idea to publicize her later successful suicide in their vain attempt to get more "clicks" with yet another smear article blaming Gamergate for the death. They are the ones making money from her death. The truth is, it's all her own fault, personal responsibility. She tried to take advantage of the public through lying for her personal gain. When her lie was exposed, she suffered the consequences. It's not Alistair Pinsof's fault. If he didn't reveal it, it would have been worse when the truth came out later after people paid all that money and found out about the subsequent elective surgery and realized they funded a lie and got taken for a ride. The lie was going to come out eventually, but it's "convenient" how you try to use this event from 2013 to besmirch a movement that started in 2014 in pursuit of promoting your culture war.
If anyone is "pissing on her grave" it's YOU, for using her death as a weapon in your ideological war against a group you dislike. She did not ask to be used as a weapon in this war of ideas. This had nothing to do with Gamergate. I know this because Gamergate started a full year later. But that doesn't stop you and the game journalists, does it?
I'm really quite baffled that you wrote a post repeatedly attacking Lucian_Galca with a quote that I wrote. At any rate, not quoting the person you're responding to is poor practice, since it doesn't alert the person you're replying to that a response might be necessary. I'm sure it wasn't your intent to deprive Lucian of a right to respond though.
Incidentally, I understand why Chloe Sagal did the things she did, but I don't agree with her defrauding people. My comment was simply a statement that I don't think we should speak ill of the dead, and I stand by that.
I'm going to assume that the rest of it isn't relevant to me, because I don't care.
PoppyAppletree: Looks like we've moved onto pissing on the graves of real people.
Lucian_Galca: Are you surprised? I'm not.
I'll tag Lucian though in case they want to respond.
