sad to see what gog has become over the years...

PoppyAppletree: A raid primarily consisting of people who have mostly free games and the occasional purchase. I don't care if it's reddit, 4chan, 8chan, or whatever hive of scum and villainy it is, but the MO is obvious. Very few of the people who have turned up have any legitimacy in calling themselves longterm or loyal customers, so if you're going to threaten boycotts you should just be shown the door. You were good for a laugh, but now it's getting tedious.
I suppose I don't have anything on your 8 years, but there are plenty of people here arguing my side that are here just as long as you are. If you think most people that complain mostly signed up for free games... well all I can do is shrug. If that's what you want to believe, go ahead.

Are you sad to see the GOG Forums has a moderator? That's quite worrying. Stick to the rules, be civil, and you'll be fine. It's really not complicated and i have faith you'll be fine.

I have zero interest into going into a personal discussion with you and I couldn't care less if "I wasn't going to be fine". just saying the quoted response (and your reply) would never appear on the early years of gog forums. but times change and things change over time I guess.

Well, I suppose it is a well known fact that GG is in possession of a time machine...

The tactic isn't a great one, but a gaming website started the problem, and it is a natural gamer response to their first strike. The unethical gaming outlet was trying to use threats to coerce gog into doing what they want, and to avoid losing out on the potential marketing potential of the outlet(and more importantly, the possibility of it snowballing to all the other websites), they gave in. Now the counter response from consumers has come, and it throws a wrench into the gaming websites plans, as now gog will have to consider whether the lost revenue from bad press and upset gamers is worse than the lost revenue from marketing through the gaming websites. It's no longer as clear cut a financial decision, and there's a possibility they will choose consumers instead of the game journalist websites.

They're not in a great place now, there's no longer a good solution. All they can do is run the numbers and determine which will be the least damaging. This whole problem was started by a game journalist website, so I know which direction I would lean towards supporting; but that may not make the most financial sense for them.

Whichever way gog decides, it would be prudent to boycott VG247 and any other websites that support them, in the hopes of preventing these things from even starting next time.

Eh, moderation is only a problem if it's abused. I don't see it being abused.

PoppyAppletree: You think we haven't seen a raid before? Go back to your chanboard or whatever.
I don't think you saw a raid if you think it is one, at this point it's people saying they're unhappy.
If it was a raid you'd prolly be unable to find your own posts or this topic for that matter ;)

ivanivanov123: So... is there any hope of y'all giving an official response?
I think twitter response that caused this is an official response.
They don't want to have anything to do with 'abusive' movement.

I don't know if you realize this, but in comparison to how tofu GoG was when they offended a few snowflake gaming journalists, this comes across as extremely heavy handed and vicious. Not only are you promising to punish users who behave badly, but you're also promising to kill the entire discussion on their behalf.

It's bad optics. Intentional or not, I shall not speculate.

If that's what they want to go with, that's fine, but I'd like to hear it from them.

Why is it worrying? Do you thnk that adults are not able to communicate with each other without a person to hand out punishment beside them? That is more worrying about your mindest.

Actually when I signed up here, there was no mod for the forum and everything was fine for several years. People kicking verbally each others face was a rare occurence and even then it was personal and did not devolve into generalizations. Measures from above came down like gods wrath - in very very severe cases - but not by running around and telling everybody to behave and threaten adults like misbheaving children.

The forum did get a slightly worrying angle when Galaxy walked on the stage and Witcher 3 was released.

To be fair - have you tried having a civil discussion on a decently big forum without moderation? ;)

I wonder if Cyberpunk 2077 will have same lack of value & common sense.

OH WELL. Great news however, cheap keyshops always exist
I am outraged by your lack of values! Therefore, I will take my business to illegal key resellers - the true moral backbone of the gaming community :D

I am not that much of a online social inteactions guy. The GOG forum is the only online "social platform" where I am sort of active.

I can only hope linko's slimy reply isn't reflective of how gog.com and cdprojekt are going to move on.

Quite worrying, eh

For the good of your psychological health, let it stay that way :D
