Just watched a video of this game, its entire purpose is political propaganda. The game is calling for political violence and depicting the murder of police officers by setting them on fire with Molotov cocktails and the like. Its entire argument is that democratic politics is a sham and only violent action can be successful. Such antidemocratic propaganda shouldn't be sold commercially on Gog.
I therefore created a Wishlist entry calling for its removal:
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/gog_remove_tonight_we_riot_from_the_store

If you agree that this game should be removed from Gog, please vote! We know after all that Gog is receptive to the complaints of gamers who object to certain games being sold in the store.

I mean... regardless of the point you are trying to make, which I will not comment on, the game *IS* called "Tonight we riot". Were you expecting peaceful protests? :P

Sure, but it still shocked me how openly violent this piece of propaganda is. How did this thing ever get accepted on Gog? Strange kind of curation, to say the least.

Well, first of all it's a game set in a purely fantasized world. If you start comparing it with reality and current politics, you of course throw its entire premise of "evil overlords in charge of the world that we must overthrow in order to give back power to the people" off course.

There are no bad or good sides in a conflict, just casualties. Or better said, which side is good depends on who you ask. Inherently I see nothing wrong with the game - just take it with a grain of salt and don't bring it into reality, much like you would not start going on the streets guns blazing like Serious Sam, or accuse that game of promoting alien genocide.

Why should gog.com remove Tonight We Riot from being sold just because it has a lot of violence?

It is freedom of speech, something valued a lot here in the United States of America.

Do you want North Korea level of censoring?

I do not know maybe move to North Korea if you want that?
I like this game. It's fun and silly. I will vote that we should have more games like it.

The way they treat zombie cybernetic crabs is kinda of suspect, though.
You are fighting gigantic laser shooting robots for gods sake...

Btw, want to have removed Riot too?

You know, violence against police forces from protesters. Way closer to reality (no Zombies or Robots).
For example in Egypt against an dictatorship. Or you can play the police force. Pick your side I would say.

Or any of the Mafia games, because you kill Cops all over the place. Should they leave GoG?

He's German, they already ban almost everything to do with Nazism, so banning everything about Communism is probably a logical step for him.

Some may claim this, but no.
Not at all.

But yeah, some want to take the 2nd step before the first one.

Out of all the overly violent games (a lot of which have political themes), this is the one that upsets you? Really? At least be consistent and demand most of the 90's shooters get removed also.

Every generation we have moral crusaders with an agenda trying to ban video games. It's getting really, really old.

You're conflating freedom of speech with this game being sold on Gog. I didn't state that this game should be banned, I asked for it not to be sold on Gog.
Freedom of speech doesn't mean you have a right to sell your political propaganda game calling for violence on commercial gaming platforms.

Correct. However GOG's choice to sell it is part of their freedom of speech, as is your right to object to them selling it (although that right doesn't extend to their forum). Hopefully they'll ignore you and lock this obvious attempt to stir s**t up.

In the United States of America yes it does freedom of speech can let you sell whatever you want if it is considered art and video games are considered art.

I guess also ban Command & Conquer: Red Alert because it lets the player conquer Europe as the Soviets under the orders of Stalin (even having them wiping out a civilian town with poison gas)?

We should probably ban Monkey Island too as it's pro-pirate propaganda.
