i mean i know its hard to to get a hold of licenses for these games but the racing category looks a bit... sad.
there's game like

LASR L.A STREET RACING
Street Legal
Street Legal Racing: Redline
Midnight Road Warriors by ignition/COSMI
Stunt GP
Split/Second
motorM4X offroad extreme
Xpand Rally
Xpand Rally Xtreme

i know most people would want
need for speed, Test drive, TOCA or Colin McRae Rally games
i feel like those games are a license nightmare

the games i listed are on the wish list so go show them some love so we can have more variety
i feel like a lot of people would like Stunt GP
Yeah it is a shame we don't have more at GOG.

And from what I have heard, which seems reasonable, it is more than the usual licencing difficulties. In addition to that we real driver names and car brands and advertising billboards etc. At least with the bigger more popular race games, and not just race games, but many sport games.

Interesting enough, Driver: Parallel Lines (https://www.gog.com/en/game/driver_parallel_lines) apparently has no problem with licenses.
Quote wiki:
"Driver: Parallel Lines features a mixed licensed and original songs soundtrack consisting of over 70 songs, ranging from 1970s-era rock and funk to modern alternative rock and rap songs. The songs play while the player is in a vehicle, as if they were on the radio. Notable groups featured on the soundtrack include Funkadelic, Can, Suicide, The Stranglers, War, Iggy Pop, Blondie, David Bowie, Parliament, The Temptations and Average White Band in the 1978 part of the game, and Public Enemy, The Roots, TV on the Radio, The Secret Machines, Kaiser Chiefs, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and LCD Soundsystem in 2006. The 1978 portion of the game also features some modern funk tracks recorded by session musicians especially for the game soundtrack. All music licensing and in-game composition was done by Nimrod Productions. The Windows and Wii versions omits several songs that were included in the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions."
(the missing songs can apparently be restored via a patch)

Music licensing is not as big of a deal as car brand licensing. Since Driver: Parallel Lines doesn't feature any real brands, it doesn't have the issues that other racing games have with digital releases.

I'd say GOG needs to adopt more sport sims in general. That would be awesome to see games like FIFA 2000, NFS 3 or NFS Underground here one day.

GTA entered the chat...
I would love to see more of them too!
And there are also some publishers here which released racing games, but not on GOG, like Nacon with the WRC series (not anymore under them iirc), Codemasters, and I don't know others, but I'm sure there are.

SilverX95: Split/Second
Interesting fact for you: the game was actually ported on Windows by CD Projekt (Black), see the page down below

Unfortunately, porting over a game means nothing in regard to publishing rights.
CD Project were simply a contractor.

GTA was not removed from stores. Other racing games did.

Who talks about GTA being remove from the store?
This is about the music.

Thread creator: "Licenses in racing games are a nightmare"
You: "Driver had no issues with licenses"
Me: "Driver's licensing is only about music. This ain't as bad as car branding".
You: "What about GTA?"
Me: "GTA was not removed from stores in contrast to other racing games"

Tell me where I misunderstood you.

GTA had songs retroactively removed from Steam.

Oh sure, I didn't want to say that, I only discovered that last year, so I just wanted to share this to you all :)
Racing games are usually centered on online multiplayer, meaning they need authentification. Most devs don't want to invest time and money to change that games from Steam to Galaxy, hardly anyone uses his own authentification network, they rely on existing networks.

We got most oldie I am interested in already (Screamer), the rest would be Amiga games (Lotus 1+2, Jaguar, Super Cars, Micro Machines).

I am surprised that even decade old racing games like Need for Speed 1, 2, and 3 have not been released here on gog.

EA really is a trash company for not sending those games over on gog.
