JDelekto: OK, if you ask me, that's questionable behavior. Game developers installing clandestine drivers under the guise of installing DirectX 9?
BTW, DirectX is an interface, a contract which is not allowed to change other than the behavior on the back-end for specific hardware devices.
This interface requires that applications adhere to those interfaces and the results from those calls adhere to the contract. There's nothing magical or special about about installing DirectX9 for a game, unless there is something for which you're not being forth coming about.
We're not talking about DRM here. All we're talking about is a few files required to make the game work. Which is kind of what Direct X is all about. BTW, DirectX is an interface, a contract which is not allowed to change other than the behavior on the back-end for specific hardware devices.

The same thing happens with graphics card drivers. The reason those install files are so big is because of all the files for individual titles in there. The reason new drivers can stop old games working is because those specific files get removed from the installer after a while.

This is where I have to disagree. DirectX was meant to be a set of published interfaces that game developers could use and had a 'contract' of those interfaces to be assured that even if different back end drivers didn't do so in hardware, they could at least have been accomplished in software. DRM wasn't in the picture anywhere, not sure why you brought that up. The same thing happens with graphics card drivers. I would think that any "DirectX" compliant driver would be installed as part of the game proper, not some re-installation of DirectX --and newer games know how to 'detect' installations of DirectX instead of boilerplate installation.
...and graphics card drivers are installed by manufacturers who care about their cards, not by game installations. If you can provide proof of that, I might believe it.

I agree with you that the files should be installed as a part of the game installation rather than through Direct X. I don't know if it's done that way to avoid complications with virus scanners etc. Or if it's simply a matter that these particular files, while a part of the Direct X redistributable for that release, never make it into general circulation due to their uselessness in all other contexts. It might not be intended for these specific Direct X versions to be as unique as they wind up being. But it's more or less moot now as I doubt it ever occurs any more. Just keep it in mind when you install an old game.
I wasn't talking about graphics card drivers installed with games. Graphics card drivers were just an analogy.

Firek: Please be aware that the Money Back Refund policy requires a level of cooperation between us and the customer, and that the priority is help you get the game working, and only refund the purchase if the problem seems unsolvable. While I do trust that you have deleted the game, this is not how the policy is supposed to work. I'm sorry if this isn't communicated clearly on the website itself.
It is communicated clearly enough. ;) I'm also curious about what the suggestion was. The way you're not allowing anyone to try and help you here makes me think that's what happened in your support emails too.

Im really not going to spend any more time. These guys clearly don't give a fuck about their customers.

sjleader: You might have missed it in the thread. They kept offering my solutions that were windows based, when I told them multiple times, I was on a Mac running OSX. Yes the game was downloaded correctly for OSX. This was why I was pissed after 2 weeks of emails going back forth with me having to say the same thing over and over.
