Primo_Victoria: Have you even tried the Windows fixes on your Mac? GOG has been pretty perfect as far as reply time to customers, user accounts, downloads, optional beta Galaxy client, Original Sin release, etc. so far, so I can't take your complaint seriously.
Have you tried setting Compatibility Mode to Win98? If not, roll back your Windows 10 Mac to Windows 7.
I am not running windows at all. I am on a mac, with osx.Have you tried setting Compatibility Mode to Win98? If not, roll back your Windows 10 Mac to Windows 7.

sjleader: I get it, its a tough job. My issue is one purely of principal. The fact that they have now gone 7 days without communicating really pisses me off. What gives them the right to just steal my money and ignore me? If they would simply communicate-- then I wouldn't be so pissed off.
People here think I am "over reacting." Yeah maybe so. Im tired of being screwed by companies. I run my own business. I have never ignored a customer for a week. And since I clearly can not talk to anyone there, my only outage is to vent on their face book page--which they have also ignored.
reaver894: Of course they wont talk about it in public like that, have you considered that they are researching your issue to try to solve it? lack of communication is annoying this is true. But if you run your own business then perhaps you should approach this more diplomatically. People here think I am "over reacting." Yeah maybe so. Im tired of being screwed by companies. If one of your customers started doing this to you and for whatever reason you were in GOG's place, its not helpful to be this shitty about it, and creating a page that gog sux or whatever it was, yeah thats gonna get peoples backs up.
No matter what has happened so far you need to remain polite and professional. it gets you the best results. I wont be returning to this topic so dont waste your time replying, just chill down a bit and re-approach it a bit more civilized.
I was polite at first. When they began ignoring me, I become not polite.
Im done with this thread. To those of you who tried to help, thank you , I appreciate it. It seems GOG is ignoring this thread as well.
Im really not going to spend any more time. These guys clearly don't give a fuck about their customers.

Sometimes resubmitting your support ticket only increases the amount of time it takes to get a reply. But at this point I really don't see how it could make matters worse. 7 days. I don't know what exactly the problem is, but that's bad.

Navagon: These days it's called "When the installer tries to install Direct X and other things that will make the game work, don't just click cancel on those".
Which is isn't quite as succinct, admittedly.
Understood, and I can see why people do it. How many times have you installed something downloaded from a Web site and it asks you if you want to install: a) some system defender; b) registry cleaner; c) PC wonderworks, etc. Which is isn't quite as succinct, admittedly.
When others' see a dialog to install something after an initial install, paranoia sets in --and I can understand why. The application you installed as a replacement for Notepad wants to install three other pieces of (ad/spy)ware, so the reaction most people have is to cancel it.
But when it comes to installing DirectX 9, I'm pretty sure one can skip that step if they're running a newer version of Windows...and if you've installed it before, there's really no reason to do it again.
Is it that you cannot get the game working or you just want a refund in general? It works for me on Windows 10.

As I said a few days back, Starflight is a game that uses DosBox, so the first suggestion would probably be to run the Graphics Setup program. When I asked you about it before, you didn't answer. If that was the "Windows" suggestion, it should be possible to change the DosBox configuration manually, even on a Mac, and it may help with your problem. Thus why I ask again. Im really not going to spend any more time. These guys clearly don't give a fuck about their customers.
Your call though either way.

According to one of the blues, that's a lie. If you submit a new ticket, the new ticket, obviously, stays at the bottom of the queue but you don't move your first ticket further back in the queue.
You can even update your old ticket with additional information without moving your ticket to the bottom of the queue.

Navagon: Actually no. Well, not always and there's no way of knowing when it's fine and when it's not. So no. See, sometimes unique drivers are added to that particular version of Direct X to make that game work on certain systems. I think that this is less common now as most things are standardised and third party solutions have widespread support. But for GOG releases - the older ones at least - it's still very advisable to spend those extra seconds installing Direct X. Post edited August 31, 2015 by JDelekto

JDelekto: OK, I do believe that installing DirectX 9 drivers does give and not take away; however, why not just get the latest pack of drivers from the source instead of feeling like you have to do it piece-meal?
There are the standard drivers that are included in Direct X and there are the ones for specific games. Newer versions of Direct X won't include unique drivers for specific games any more than the standard redistributable would have done at the time. In fact, if they're anything like graphics card drivers, they may even reduce the support for older games over time. But that's just postulation based on the fact that the redistributable would be huge by now if they didn't do that.
Which makes installing old Direct X drivers a must where they're supplied with old games. It's not like it does any harm to do that anyway.

BTW, DirectX is an interface, a contract which is not allowed to change other than the behavior on the back-end for specific hardware devices.
This interface requires that applications adhere to those interfaces and the results from those calls adhere to the contract. There's nothing magical or special about about installing DirectX9 for a game, unless there is something for which you're not being forth coming about.
