GOG is getting really behind in the amount of games it sells compared to other Stores. I know that it's not easy for a DRM-Free store like this to get developers to publish their games here, but GOG needs to set as a clear business objective to get more developers to be interested in selling their games on GOG. Specially AAA games, even when it's not an easy task.

Erm, GOG has had a lot more games recently than it ever has.... GOG has grown a lot in the last year / year and a half. So I'm not sure what more you could want really.
I wouldn't like GOG turning into Steam allowing 4000 new games in a single year.

It's easy for GOG to hugely expand its catalog; by selling Steam keys, though I don't think that's what you would want...
I would prefer less sales and less games available elsewhere and more weird, classics released before 360/PS3/Wii era, they unfortunately likely sell rather poorly and are hard to acquire.
Are you kidding? What am I to do with all this backlog? I just bought CIv 3 and have plans to get Stardew Valley!
i found 2016 quite a good year regarding releases and also the already known AA releases of 2017 ( Elex, Spellforce 3, Finished Divinity Original Sin 2.... and so on) actually sound quite good.
I have a game backlog of about 80 games here on GOG and a wishlist with still like 150 entries so i personally can't complain about the releases here.
And well as others already said i rather have these 1750 games in total here on GOG where for most you could see their appeal or why they would have some appeal to other players than having 4000 games released on steam of which 3000 are utter garbage which will end up in some 1$ bundle along the road
Unfortunately, despite GOG's exponential growth we're unlikely see any day 1 non CDPR AAA-titles in foreseeable future. And while GOG's curation could be less strict, I don't think opening floodgates like Steam did is a good idea in the long run.

I'm pretty sure GOG is doing all it possibly can to get more AAA publishers on-board. We've had plenty of successes this year with games like Crysis, Mirror's Edge and Shadow Warior 2. It's not really up to GOG.

And it's also not enough for GOG to get more contemporary AAA titles, they have to convince Steam users to buy the games through GOG and not Steam, or a Steam-key vendor. There are two problems with this:
1) AAA games on GOG are generally more expensive (just my impression), Steam keys are much cheaper
2) they will need to open another gaming account, i.e. they won't have all their games in one place anymore

To grow it's business GOG is trying to take customers away from Steam-key vendors, but that is unlikely to happen en masse. However, where else is GOG supposed to generate new customers from ?!

More quantities of quality old games? Picking up abandonware titles and giving them a nice shine? PBEM services?

Like who has already developed and self published 29 games in span of just half year, 28 of those being currently sold 99% off in [url=https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/dollar-mega-bundle]Dollar Mega Bundle on Bundle Stars? Do we really want to flood GOG with those kind of games? Not that they would be really interested in GOG as over 90% of this kind of developer's earnings come from Steam card sales.

That would benefit existing GOG users, sure, but it will not attract Steam users or MMO players, which is where GOG needs to fish for additional consumers. Repolished older games don't just get released on GOG, they get reeased on Steam as well.
I don't have much to complain about. I've seen quite many great releases in GOG this year, both old classics and semi-new AAA titles. I guess good indies too, but I am usually less familiar with them so I see their greatness (or lack there-of) only when I play them.

The Civilization games, Darksiders 1-2, the Crysis games, Mirror's Edge, all the Paradox games, X series, Saboteur, Titan Quest, War Wind 1-2 etc... YES PLEASE!
My ever growing wishlist begs to differ.

Which is easier? Pleasing and retaining old customers, or trying to appeal to and attain new customers?
