hi there guys, I was searching third part seller steam keys and I discovered GOG platform; I immediately noticed that prices are often much more cheaper than steam keys..
Is there a reason for that? And is it safe?

I searched for The Witcher 2 (the first one) and there's a GOG keys available for less than 1 euros (well + VAT + shield, eventually)! I would like to buy it, you think it's safe enough?
100% safe:)
You can buy with confidence here as you are protected and guaranteed.
And I did omit a very important fact, they are DRM free.

Games bought from GOG are safe. Games bought from 3rd party resellers like G2A.com are less so.

No, that sounds like it is from G2A, which is a grey market key re-seller, and does not have any legitimate gOg keys. It is therefor a high chance those keys can be revoked at any time, and the game removed from your account.

Unlike Steam, gOg keys are normal not bought via third party sellers (with a few exceptions) so any gOg keys bought outside the gOg store brings with it the risk of losing monies.

Actually Steam prices are usually cheaper by a few cents here and there, sometimes it's the other way around. Yeah it's safe, just use proper antivirus/firewall software, avoid "free Wi-Fi" and abstain from using Flash plugins during surfing the dark parts of the internet.

Simple formula:
Key Sellers = Fraud

How do you think they can afford to sell games cheaper than on the original platforms?

GOG is perfectly safe and legitimate. GOG and CD Projekt RED, the developer of Witcher series are subsidiaries of same corporate group CD Project and their offices reside in same building in Warsaw, Polland. Just be aware that GOG only provides DRM-free products downloadable directly from them (via direct download using web browser or Galaxy client) and you will not receive Steam keys for purchasing directly nor activating codes on GOG.

Also be aware that is rather rare to receive legitimate GOG keys (with exception of Witcher series and games developed by CD Project RED and Kickstarter rewards) from any outside source. Thus there is high change any GOG keys sold by third party key re-sellers are originally acquired fraudulently and thus may be revoked at any time. Any steam code carries same risk but as there are multiple legal sources and steam bundles left and right, risk is somewhat lower.

G2A is a grey market, yes.

It's therefore a fat chance that any "activated" key can be revoked at any time. Please don't tell people nonsense. In any case I'd be glad to read about a few good examples of some "greyed" G2A keys being actually revoked after them being added to user's games library.

I wouldn't risk buying from one of those key re-sellers.

The Witcher 1+2 are often on sale for 85% off on both GOG and Steam so i'd rather wait for the next sale.
thanks a lot guys, thank you all..

I read all posts here and I've to say that I agree with all, basically.. I mean the real point I guess is that on those sites you can find honest sellers and scammers ones, as long as legit keys and fraudulent ones..
I'm not pretending to not be able to understand that if a game of 2017 January, for example, is officially sold at € 50 a third part seller key at € 1 will be a fraud for sure.. But I also know lots of people already bought there and never had issues; also a game from 2008 could be bought on sale and never activated because maybe you already have it, so you could sell the key.

The main issue for me is that I still think games cost too much, IMO. I know that there are hundreds of reason for that: it's just that I cannot afford those prices. That's why I search for cheaper prices (as long as it's safe enough; obiously I would prefer to spend more money and not losing less :D ).

Last but not least, I just discovered something very nice: it seems it's some kind of discount welcome for new users but I could buy The WItcher and The Witcher 2 here on GOG basically for the same price of third part seller one! So no reason to buy there, it's clear.
BUT this also demonstrate (as long as I know, I could be wrong) that the keys from those sellers could be legit: a new account bought GOG games (using the same discount I will) and never activated them

By buying them with stolen credit cards, so reselling them is merely part of a larger money laundry operation.

Which is actually worse than fraud *and* you'd still get your key revoked once the bank reverts the payment, but hey! it is an alternative theory at least.

G2A is an unauthorized reseller, so none of them are really "legit".

Usually when people say that same phrase, they actually mean some unknown people in forums..
It's all fine until the chargebacks arrive.

That's why we all simply wait for promos and buy slightly older titles for <10$

Your money, your gamble. If you like, send me your bank details and I will email you some game files.. not serious there, just trying to illustrate the point. Just because some people get lucky is probably more reason why you will be unlucky. If you can't afford it, wait, I can't afford that Jag XK I want, doesn't mean I am going to pop down to the run down garages and buy one half price off Dave the Jackal.
well, I'll be honest: I read a lot of threads and blogs about g2a and kinguin and my conclusion was that they really are in a gray zone where you're only with yourself, so you need to check feedback abut sellers and so on before buying anything. Instead you're saying that it's a totally black zone, non sense to buy there! A little surprised, also because I remember reading some specialized blogs being basically neutral about those sites.. they bought themselves to test, they were able to talk with some seller and at the end of the day they were not so negative when judging the entire story!

I only spent € 5 on that stores to buy two pretty old games, so I don't have any interest on defending them..
