GOG,

As a game store, you should be open to all people. If you are are going to block and ban innocent people for the acts of their governments, ALL will soon be banned... or on their way to a banning. There's no nation or person without sin.

If you wish to aid people, aid the innocent refugees who didn't ask for any of this. Give to the Red Cross or any of a million refugee and / or victims organizations (many working at your border tight now!).

IMHO banning was the wrong move... in a situation that isn't a game.

repeat from another thread:

It is also not so straight forward. gOg is not the only ones sactioning Russia right now. EU, for example, has excluded 7 of the largest banks from SWIFT global payments messaging system, the only banks still included are Sberbank and Gazprombank (which EU still needs for trading, but they will be hit by other sanctions and possibly excluded as well in a couple of days). This means that any payments from Russia to EU (and other countries) will be very difficult.

So at some point it is really not a matter if gOg want to trade with Russia and Belarus, but rather that they can't. The people living there basically cannot trade outside their borders.

Well, if only one single individual of the russian userbase gets so frustrated about the ban that he choins the protest on the street, then maybe GOG did the right thing.
Btw, better protest sooner than later...

Not quite. During the first two days of the war, Netflix also had problems with payment. They didn't block por ban anyone, just the payment did not take place, because sanctions on banks. After a few more days, they fixed it (I don't know how), and now everything is working fine. I think the fact is that Netflix is too popular to attract attention and customers with such movements. Well, thanks to Netflix - they have proved their commitment to racial and national equality.

By the way, they stopped buying and showing Russian films, which is quite fair, because they are created with public money. But they did not harm their clients in any way, simply because they were born with the wrong passport. I remind, Netflix is an US company. GOG needs to learn from them.

Well, you may find that the Russian government kicks Netflix out since they've stated they have no intention of carrying the state propaganda they are apparently required to by law.

Steam is also having problems with payment now, they have not made any statements, it is just impossible to pay from Russia. But CDRP has blocked the pages of their games for Russia. They simply do not open. So I do not know what problems there are with payment, sanctions, SWIFT, or something else, but there is definitely at least a personal position here.

GOG, the US (my country) has been bombing Somalia since 2021 (without the legal authorization of Congress). Many innocent people have died. Should US customers be banned?

This is the first I've heard about it. Now Netflix fully working for me, without any censorship, just like in any other country.

While the CB SWIFT system makes this difficult for Russian customers, CDPR removed their ability to even view game pages... making it impossible. IMHO this is beyond, "we are sadly unable to complete your purchase at this time" and more like "If you're from ______ or ______ we don't want you here!"

Did we learn nothing from the segregation and prejudice that arose around "the virus?" We've become masters of dehumanizing and making each other into monsters.

I think GOG should ban Israel for invading Palestine in 1947 until modern day.

Also ban the USA Corp for invading Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Iran, Libya etc and lying about WMDs to justify the attack on Iraqi civilians.

All is fair in love and war GOG.
