Jokes aside, what many before me have already said. Nowadays, anyone can make a smooth transition from Windows to any Linux distro. Save for any rare hardware incompatibility, you'll hardly need to touch the terminal, if at all.
However, I heavily encourage anybody with a minimum of curiosity and eagerness for learning to try it out. Once you start to see its huge potential and versatility you won't want to go back to certain GUIs. I mean, come on! This is (or used to be) called
Good Old Games for a good reason: many of the regulars here must have started toying around with PCs during the MS-DOS era, right? The idea of a command line shouldn't be that scary for you.
Or is my personal experience blinding me and everybody here learned to use a PC with a mouse and not with a keyboard? :\
