Galaxy was marketed as optional and should NEVER be the only solution by definition.
Browser downloads are now more problematic and are not being kept at parity with Galaxy.
Historically ,there are plenty of more technical posters pointing this kind of thing out.
Here is my brief search on lack of parity:-

No valid points in the OP, stubborn, unreasonable, bad matters and less brains. The intention was only flaming and trolling. And it was proved.
alternatives were:
Galaxy (optional)
broswer (clumsy)
or start to mess with third party.
It is not unreasonable to sympathise with the OP when non-client downloads are purposefully made harder to access and kept out of date.
