knifey_au: lesson learned
So you'll stick to sales from legit sites from now on?
avatar
knifey_au: So, problem (and my future use of gog) over. It was my only game in my gog library.
Uhm, if you keep using shady resellers you'll get fucked over just as hard on steam sooner or later...

I doubt it. Like everyone else who has been caught with illegitimate codes, he'll probably blame GOG for his poor judgement.

Ummm, I'm pretty sure he got fucked over on the Steam the second he signed up there. :P

no I will not... What is wrong with you?

edit: I don't understand the hate on my post, what have I done to deserve it? why would I blame GOG? They've done nothing wrong, their communication skills could use some work, but I have no hate toward GOG. GOG even said to show the website the email from them about the canceled game and they'll probably refund the money. Maybe they will? Who cares it was $15 and I've saved more than ten times that, especially since I buy two of most things I buy so my wife can play with me on her pc. btw, everybody is so keen on bad mouthing g2a, they're just like ebay... they do not sell the keys so how can you hate... forget it.

Recently a lot of people have been coming to the gog forums and basically saying " I got scammed by some random dude on a dodgy and also completely unrelated to gog reseller site. Clearly this is all gog's fault! They're a shitty store, I'm never going to use them again, and I'll warn away everyone I know. That will teach them!"

It can get quite annoying for us here. You're certainly much more polite than what we usually see (kudos to you for that!) but, personally, that "my future use of gog is over" comment of yours made me want to tease you a bit. Still, if you don't blame them, why proclaim you'll never use them again?

90% of games I buy my friends make me buy for multiplayer (steam only) reasons, and my budget is like $10 a month... I only said that because now I have no games on GoG... I just assumed that GoG was a digital distribution platform like steam... why would an invalid key be GoG's fault... I'm not retarded.... Also how can I not be happy, I got 4 different bottles of booze for christmas. been drunk for like 18 hours.

Problem solved. :P If you have any interest in older games you'll find a lot to like on gog. Why not try some of the free ones, see if any are up your alley? Anyway, merry christmas to you.

To be fair you said:

"So, problem (and my future use of gog) over. It was my only game in my gog library. I payed as much for the game as I'd seen it on sale for so it didn't look suss. Never had the problem with steam so lesson learned I guess."

Perhaps it wasn't your intention but it does seems like you're blaming gog since it never happened with Steam (and trust me, it does happen with steam but at least they send a message informing you about it).

Yeah I haven't heard of it happening on steam, for what ever reason I'm under the impression it's less likely to happen with steam. but I see GoG/steam as being abused as well. maybe it's easier to get away with abusing GoG? still... doesn't make sense to blame GoG.

Smannesman: Whether the key was purchased through a grey area marketplace or not, IMO GOG should still inform people when they remove items from their library.
Agreed 100%

Even if only a bot-generated auto-message.

Stuff should just happen in silence.
I didn't have any problem getting a refund. just fyi for anybody interested.

Well that's good to hear. Even if you don't plan on using GOG again, check out some of the free games listed above (like the recently-added Bio Menace) - http://www.gog.com/games##sort=bestselling&price=free&page=1

I am open to games that I want to play, which are cheaper/not available on steam. I just haven't found any yet. I will def check out the free to play list. Thanks tfishell
